Cool technique. Music sounds like entering through a cursed carnival portal..

Amazing that the red looked like it was applied first. I would have appreciated seeing the fired piece.

can this be done with regular glazes or underglaze? I'm going to try this for one of my projects
@BisqueImports

+Gallifreyan-elf Absolutely! The video sample was created using underglaze paints, but this technique can also be used with other glazes. Also - this same technique can be used with acrylic paints as well!

does the soap smell bad when fired? my ceramics teacher wont allow us to do this because she thinks it will smell and bring the firefighters...i guess our classroom is not that well ventilated

Do you apply the bubble glaze before the bisque firing or after? Thanks.
@BisqueImports
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Pedro, you apply the bubble glaze after the bisque firing just as you would with most glazes or underglazes. Clay that was not at least fired to Cone 04 first would just absorb the soap, so there would not be much of an effect.

What is the name of the glaze you are using with the bubbles -- Is it Mayco?
@BisqueImports
8 жыл бұрын
+Spinquilter Hi, the bubbled glaze is actually a combination of Duncan Concepts, dish soap or hand soap, and water. For this project, we used 3 pumps of hand soap, an equal amount of water, and 1 tbsp. Concepts. I imagine it would work with the concepts equivalent in other brands, but I have not tested it myself.

+Spinquilter The bubbles are created using underglaze (we used Duncan Concepts) mixed with dish soap or hand soap and water.

+BisqueImports what if you're painting on glass?
@BisqueImports
7 жыл бұрын
We've yet to try this technique on glass, but your best bet would be to substitute the underglaze paints with a glass enamel paint like Glassline. Because the glass is a less porous surface, it may help to spritz the glass surface a bit with hairspray before bubble painting, as this will help the paint to adhere to the surface. Give this technique a try (we will be doing the same!), and we'd love to know your results!
