Lefty here. This was the only video that helped me get started. I decided to cut my fabric in one continuous strip Ty

My great grandmother taught me to make these - round and square- when I was a young girl.. she also had me help her churn butter with an old wooden churn and make the best homemade biscuits! She had a lovely small farm in South Carolina and had to walk to an outhouse. Way out in the country, and it was the beginning of my lifelong love of plants to become a horticulturist( now retired) . She never wasted anything, and turned any old clothes etc into these rugs all over her home. She even made them out of rough rope for a doormat. They always tried to get me on to ride the old black mule , but it was so big to me then, all I did was scream with fear! Thank you ! Now I can get started making these from all the scrap fabric and pretty old clothes I’ve accumulated!

So if I am understanding right, every other hole for the whole rug will keep it round and flat?

Ive already started, I'm using fabric that I have had for years that I just couldnt let fo of, from favourite pyjamas that ripped, to remnants from a beautiful bag that was a gift - that I used until it fell apart - What a fantastic way to use these, so happy, thanks again

So basically you are doing a slip stitch and chain 1 and no increases, right?
@FreedominJesusUPC

Your instructions make a basket, not a rug. You didn’t show any increases. Please edit or update your video to reflect the increases.

I’m from Albuquerque but I live in Colorado now. Glad I found your video. Thank you for sharing. Did you know there is a way to cut your fabric into one continuous strip instead of having to join them? If you’d like more info I’d be happy to share

Do you skip a loop every 3 rows until you are finished?

Hi Sherry. Thanks for watching my video. You'll skip a loop in every row, starting with the third row and continuing through the entirety of the project.

@@fabuloussewingsisters1226 oh thank you that helps alot. You are very easy to under stand and follow. Thanks for sharing with us. I haven't ever made a rug and I'm not that good at crocheting I can only do basic stitch so I think I can do this. I am going to give it a try. If I get one done i will share a picture on here.

Thank you for your round rug instructions. It was very helpful. So, I am to crochet into the back loop of every other stitch,and create a loop to travel over the skipped stitch. Do you have instructions for crocheting bowls? You explain instructions very well. Thank you,Deb🙂

I love this & I have crocheted before but my rug looks like a basket. What am I doing wrong? I've started over thinking I was making it too tight but that didn't help??
