Hi, love this pattern. I used DK yarn, 4mm hook and it measured 6" hand circumference which according to charts fits a 6 yr old, but wool stretches and tensions differ. I believe this is your written pattern which may help others, as you say it can be adjusted by using larger hook and/or adding rows. 1. Magic ring, 5sc into MR 2. 2sc in each stitch (10) 3. (2sc, then 1 sc) repeat around (15) 4. (2sc, then 2 sc) repeat round (20) 5. (2sc, then 4 sc) repeat round (24) 6-17. sc 18. sc, chain 6, skip 6, sc to end (24) 19. Sc round including the 6 chains over the thumb space (24) 20-26. Sc. Finish off and leave a tail. Thumb - 1. pull yarn through a stitch and sc around picking up 12 stitches evenly round 2-6. sc round (12) 7. Sc 2 together 6 times. Weave through remaining 6 stitches to close

First, thanks for the suggestion of using a safety pin or paper clip! This totally saved me and reminded me that my mom used to do the same thing when she was saving a project. 😊 A couple things I did differently... I didn't think the cuff part looked long enough, so I added 8 rows but instead of the same stitch, I did a single crochet in the back loop only to create a ribbed cuff and then folded it over. Then it can be unfolded if needed to go up higher on the wrist and up under the jacket sleeve for fun dry snow play. 😋 I tried closing the thumb hole with the stitching you showed, but it wasn't working out for me, so I turned the mitten inside out and slip stitched it together. That worked out wonderfully! Thanks for the great tutorial! 🤗

Thanks a lot! I have just made another thing with your tutorial - adorable pair of mittens) The only variation was that I did not use a needle ending the thumb - just did one more round of SCs joint together (3 sets), chain one, and that was it) Thanks again! Your lessons are very easy to follow and just priceless for a beginner like me!

This is one of the easiest tutorials I have found on KZitem for crocheting! I took my two year old son to the Veterans Day parade today and it turned out to be so cold and almost snowing he had fun until the last bit he still doesn’t understand to keep his hands under the blankets and he was crying saying owwww because his hands were frozen! I came straight home and started on these for him thank you so so much

This is a great basic mitten pattern. Just by making a few adjustments the mitten can be made for a larger child. I use Red Heart Super Save yar variegated colors (macaw) and a modern color pattern emerges! I have made a small adult mitten by starting with 6 sc in the magic circle, then added rows to fit my hand. Today, I noticed I could click on the dots on the lower right corner below the video and see a transcript, this might be helpful!

After the first five rows, I found it best to measure inches rather than rows. I am making them for my two year old granddaughter and following the number of rows you did here made them far too big. On that note, I found this the easiest tutorial of all of the ones I checked out! No written pattern needed. All straight single crochet after the first five rows.

I followed this video but made adjustments for my 11 year old to fit her, and wrote down all of the adjustments I made as I made the first mitten so that I could make the second mitten exactly the same - What I did was have my daughter try it on as I worked on it to fit her exact measurements. I DO NOT think that the measurements stated by the video are realistic to fit older kids with only adjusting the hook size, I think this pattern is suitable for toddlers only, with that said - I was EASILY able to make the adjustments needed for this to work perfectly, so well done on the pattern / video! The mitten also fit me - an adult, just a little snug. I would make this pattern just a little bit wider for an adult female hand. I used a 5.5mm hook, and that red heart brand of yarn from Walmart. (I also copy / pasted Black Nights pattern, and updated it for what I did). This mitten is about 1/2 - 1 inch too long for my 11 year old, in the hopes that if we don't lose them in a week, she will be able to wear them for at least 2 years. The first mitten took me 2-3 hours to complete, the second took me less than 2 hours to complete since I then knew what the heck I was doing and did not have to watch the video again. These are my first ever mittens, but I am not a beginner at crochet. If you are new / beginner to crochet, keep watching KZitem videos, I have become very decent at crocheting and have tried out so many new stitches and patterns just from KZitem! Thank you to all you KZitem educators! 1. Magic ring, 5sc into MR. 2. 2sc in each stitch (10). 3. (2sc, then 1 sc) for the row (15). 4. (2sc, then 2 sc) for the row (20). 5. (2sc, then 4 sc) for the row (24). Sc all the way around from rows 6-28. 29. Sc, chain 6, skip 6 stitches, Sc to end (24). 30. Sc around including the 6 chains over the thumb space (24). Sc around from rows 31-38. Finish off and leave a tail. Thumb - 1. pull yarn through a stitch and sc around picking up 12 stitches evenly. Sc around from rows 2-12. Sc 2 stitches together 6 times. Weave through remaining 6 stitches to close, sew in all ends to complete the mitten.

I made the 2-4 size for my 2.5 year old. Initially it was too small for her so I added two extra rows to the fingers before adding the thumb hole. Also added two extra rows to the thumb. The mittens are now a good fit but certainly wouldnt fit a 4 year old. Easy pattern to follow though. Considering adding a bit of ribbing to the bottom as they only just graze the wrist.

I was having this same issue. I finally started to look in her description box and then Google comparison yarn for what it is she uses. It will give great choices that will work up very similar in size and feel. Takes very little time and makes all the difference in completing a beautiful project. So type in ( drops Lima comparable yarns) in the Google search bar and it should show up somewhere in the list if found items. There is a comparable yarn to almost every yarn she uses. Hope this is helpful.

Hi, I made these mitts omitted 2 rows at the end of your mitt and used this tutorial: kzitem.info/news/bejne/ymt8xYODrWiWeZg only I chained up 7 chains, instead of 9chs. Cause I wanted the cuff to b a little shorter. I also used slip stitches instead of single crochet(except for the last stitch of the row) I did single crochet for that stitch to have a nice edging for the cuff. hope this helps. I know this is a year later but it's getting time to make mitts once again! 👍👍
