Always grab a fresh tree folks! I remember the first tree I cut down with my dad when we moved to Washington, the snow was deep that year and we didn’t realize as it was our first Christmas there. So we sled down the massive hill we lived on to get to the tree line of our property and dad gets off the sled and sinks to his waist, we spent the better part of an hour trudging through the snow me following his tracks as the snow was up to my chest. Finally we find a tree dig down to the base and take turns cutting on it. Then the long walk back up the hill starts. Was definitely one of my favorite memories! Family and good memories are important, this will surely create those! I wish every one a happy holiday season during these tough times and a very merry Christmas! Thanks for a great video! Love these!

From NJ to VA to TX back to NJ…we’ve been getting real trees for 10 years! Beaver’s Tree Farm in TX would have fresh oranges, picked from their trees, to eat while tree hunting. It’s the best part of X-Mas for me. This man embodies caring father and I love it. My dad died when I was 10 but I know these two would’ve gotten along great so watching these videos let me know that dads are teachers by example and role models by design. My boys will be self-sufficient and curious, protective and tough, and above all else kind.

Other tips to add: Have your family member or a friend pull the tree a little away from the cut to keep the tree from pinching the saw blade. When I go cut one with my wife every year I often bring my own kneeling pad (foam top with hard plastic base and handles) since my local tree farms don't offer kneeling pad. If you have an SUV or Minivan, you can carry it inside. Put down the rear seats and lay down a paint drop cloth or cut-open garbage bags and tape them together to protect the upholstery from sap. Cut the straps from the bottom first, so there's less to cut. Usually one or two cuts on the bottom and it all unravels since tree farms start wrapping from the bottom.

knot wise I would use either a clove hitch or double half hitch. If you want to be extra safe before tying the knot tie a stopper knot, a knot that'll step the end from pulling through; my 2 go to stopper knots are an overhand knot or a figure 8.
@gabefitch8061
3 жыл бұрын
I'll try to describe how to tie but it's better to have visuals. The clove hitch is tied by wrapping the rope around something 3 times. The first 2 times around create an x, and the third time stabs through the middle of the x. The double half hitch is tied by crossing one end over the other and that end will wrap around and come up through the loop that was made. Next bring that same end down the other end a little bit and wrap around in the same direction it wrapped around before and bring it through the new loop that is created. The double half hitch is a clove hitch on the rope if that helps. Now good luck and have fun.
