I appreciate this tip. It’s exactly what I need to do. Thank you. Now I just need to figure out putting the guides on the tile floor. Drilling, or adhesive!?

as an improvement i'm going to try adding another 2x4 perpendicular to the one you have to keep the bit perfectly square.

Yeah, just paid a contractor to hang my doors and he screwed 4 base guides on my beautiful18" tiles. Inner and Outer for each door...looks so bad I just wanna scream. I can't believe he didn't router the doors lie you did. and I paid $1600...FML

Thanks for sharing this hack. Now to find out if a router+bit is cheaper than a circ saw. I am guessing your tip favours the router. :)
