Thanks Adam this breaks down this pattern we often see in Dominican dancing but cannot really make out due to subtleties. For an Indian like me these videos are useful as they show things that are often missed in typical Bachata workshops here. And Dominican style of dancing is very very rare here still.

Hi from Sydney. Here the only Bachata known is that stupid sexualised american version which is essentially salsa but to the sides. They mention Dominican style as some kind of strange alternative and of course their "Sensual style" because sex sales. In my view what you teach is genuine and the only hope for those who never get to meet people from DR. Other videos you published are so good especially the one comparing the styles within DR. I think that if the DR people got upset by you being a gringo they should publish them, but they don't.

really nice video . I just have a doubt... how could she know when I want to start the box but combined with the triple step and when could she know when I want to stop the triple step and just continuing with the basic in the box? ..... can I start the triple step even if my partner does not do it?
@AdamTaubVideo
9 ай бұрын
Hi @ricardoramossanchez6288 good question. Yes, you can add a triple step to your basic box and your partner does not need to do it, they can do a "touch" or "tap" while you do a syncopated or triple step. Generally, both partners don't need to add a "triple step" to their basic at the same time and its not something you need to "lead" your partner into. As I mentioned some dancers use it to various degrees, some a lot, other a little.. and others do not use it at all. Of course, you want to make sure you are connecting with your partner and that you are "listening" to them as well so that you both can find a flow together. Also, a tip, as you start to use it, try to use it subtly, the movement or step does not have to be too big and this will help your partner not to get thrown off beat if they are not familiar with dancing with someone that uses a triple step. Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

So, is there a difference between the triple step and a shuffle? Also, in a social dancing situation, does when the lead changes to a touch, unpredictably alternatingly, can the follow pick their own style preference...as long as it's on beat?
@AdamTaubVideo
6 жыл бұрын
Hi @Tiffany Chaney, Good questions. Yes when I say "shuffle" in this situation I mean triple step with a shuffling quality. various dancers may interpret the "Triple Step" differently, some use more of a shuffle, others may pick their feet up or change weight slightly more, others you really notice their feet, while some translate that "4 & 1" rhythm into their hips and you barely notice the triple step rhythm in their feet.. I used the word shuffle in this case to try and get people to not pick their feet up too much and flow through the step. Regarding lead and follow. Yes, generally when the lead changes to a touch or back to a triple step the follow can pick their own style as long as they are on beat. Some follows use the triple step most of the time while their partners may rarely use it. Some follows barely use the triple step at all. Now their are occasions where the triple step creates a certain traveling flow, where the couple is still traveling through that 4&1 so the follow in order to be with the flow of the dance would need to use the triple step or adapt their touch somehow to continue movement. So their are certain times that the lead and follows flow may require to be "touching" together or doing the "triple at the same time. But often leads and follows can pick their own style preference in this regard. hope this helps best wishes.

I know you are only joking here, but nevertheless I feel compelled to point out that white guys are some of the best dancers in dance competitions. Russians have been dominating ballroom dance since forever. Double step, no such thing as triple step. look at it closely, it has always been call double step since the beginning of time.
@iasoRecords
7 жыл бұрын
In the Dominican republic it hasn't had a name. Since bachata dance has been taught formally, which hasn't been for very long, it has been referred to using a number of names. We chose to call it the 'Triple step' because it consists of three steps.
@carlos25099
7 жыл бұрын
We, me and others has been calling it the double steps for yrs, there are not three steps but two. I know 2+1 is 3 but in this case is 2. again it does not consist of 3 steps but 2 plus 1(2nd 3rd 4th) eg: 1,2 double step 4th 1,2,3 doudle step 4th 1 double step 2,3,4th entiendes. .
