Ah thank you so much for taking the time to watch it my friend! And yes indeed, these guys are great 😁 Super patient and they know their craft so well. If you ever stop by Shanghai, I’ll bring you there 100% haha. In exchange I want you to bring me to Cape Town’s color Darkroom 🤝

So they use a processor to develop the paper automatically ? That’s nice
@mathieurabary
3 жыл бұрын
Yes they do! At the time of the recording, the processor they used was only taking care of the development and they had to use another one to wash the prints. Nowadays they have this Colenta processor that can process the print, clean them then dry them within 7mins. Way more time efficient, it’s amazing! 😁

Can you please tell us why he said : “always overexpose your film” ? Is it the same for b&w ?
@mathieurabary
3 жыл бұрын
So basically, he advises to overexpose in order to have a denser negative. When you go to the Darkroom it is easier to work with a negative that has a lot of information in it. If you end up under exposing your negative, you result with a thin negative which is very complicated to work with because very little information has been registered on it. This is not a fool proof method as he always advises to properly expose your image in order to have the most flexibility in post production. And the same applies for B&W negative film indeed.

amazing film. trying to figure out if he is joking or not about always over exposing XD
@mathieurabary
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Cole! And he was half joking hahaha. He told me off camera that overexposing your film doesn’t always guarantee a good negative BUT at least it’s way better than having an underexposed negative. Darkroom Printing with a bad negative is apparently very frustrating hahaha.
