Thank you, Mr. Dimitri! Watched many videos and yours is the most credible one. I’m frustrated cause it’s my first time to plant tulip bulbs last autumn using a “lasagna pot.” All flowers bloomed so beautifully and in two weeks, they wilted. It’s not even half way spring and I don’t know if this means they’re done for the year and time for me to deadhead. I hope to hear from you.

It depends on weather and on wether your pot is indoors or out. In any case, it should not become bone dry. Half a glass of water once a week should do it.

Great video! I planted tulip bulbs for the first time last fall and am enjoying the spring show with nice, healthy flowers but.... some of my bulbs produced little miniatures in addition to a large healthy flower. (Tulipa Negrita). Any idea why?? Should I cut those so they don't deplete the energy of the main bulbs?? I read that this can happen when tulips naturalize and produce small 'bulbets' but this is their first year. And I can't find anything on this online...

I would let them be. They will be bigger next year. In a couple of years you can dig them up and spread them around. I started with 10 black tulips years ago and now I have over 50. Plus they are a nice gift to friends. No matter what, do not touch them until mid autumn.

@nomadimitri

I never touch the bulbs in the spring. The only time to dig them out it's in the fall, around October. It is possible that they were not really rotten but in the process of absorbing the leaves. If it's not too late, put them back in.

Possible but tricky. I would plant them deeper and in a shadier/cooler/more humid area of the garden, simulating a cooler climate. I would mulch during the hot dry summer. I would intersperse them with lilies, that grow well even in the Cyclades, so that if the tulips work less well, I would still get flowers in my patch.

@@nomadimitri thank you for your response! I think I can make it because I plan to plant them in a balcony that gets less light than full sun so it won't be super hot.
