I'm still new to being an active youtuber, so I haven't gotten a lot of hate on my comments. but one thing I do in real life is to realize that there are just some times that you are going to have to overlook what people say, and that it's just words, you don't have to do anything about it. I also block/report harassers on social media as soon as I see them, whether it's on my page or not, because I know I don't want to see that my my accounts, so I bet others won't either

Great vid guys! Haters math is so true. I have to ban a handful of people every week. You would think that the longer you make KZitem videos the easier it is to deal with haters but I have my ups and downs. I might go 2 weeks and the haters have no affect on me mentally and then all the sudden I just can't deal with it.

my spouse makes videos (but I deal with most of the tags, info, title, etc) and if I see a negative comment I will simply delete it and not tell him about it. I don't want his confidence on camera to be hurt. I *do* tell him about thumbs ups and positive comments and genuine questions. I haven't seen repeat rude comments from people, but if I did I would block them if it happened several times :) Too bad that friend of Benji stopped making videos, I think it's a good idea to have someone screen your comment section for you, so your confidents isn't shot :)

Another great vid. I have learned to smile and say "wow, I must be doing something right, they are sending in the haters!". I then choose whether or not I want to block them or leave them in. I leave some in because life (not just KZitem) has haters. To only leave in the good would not be realistic or reflective of life.

Thank you so much for making this video. This is what I've been studying for almost a month now. One thing I've learned is to stand on your OWN OPINION and BE WHO YOU ARE. I'm not saying that you have to be rude rather, just stick to your beliefs. Do not delete any of your comments or videos that drew your haters attention. I've heard some people who deleted their channels after receiving tons of negative comments. I advice you not to do that. As long as you have something to share to change other people's lives, as long as you are not being immoral then THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.. Remember, there are some haters who are losers. They are couch potatoes who only sit in front of their computers and are just busy putting other people down.

It's difficult when you get that one negative comment that can ruin all of the positive ones.. It hurts at first but I try (really hard) to move on from it. "Kill them with kindness" is one option I've used but the comment does stick with me. I have a passion for something and nothing will stop me from my goal but it's unfortunate that these bumps in the road sting as much as they do.

I love it when you tubers read out hate comments in a video and mock the trolls. I love the irony of the trolls saying the youtuber is stupid, yet they can't spell or form coherent sentences. Plus those videos also are a great way to get more views. Be funny though because it can easily backfire if you're actually nasty about it. Keep it lighthearted

Oh My Goodness Benji and Sean thank you so much for this video! I am a new creator here on KZitem out of the Seattle area, and this morning I got my first negative comment to one of my Q & A videos I posted last week. This wasn't a constructive criticism comment about my video or how it was made or anything like that. It was a negative hateful comment about my son who has special needs (ADHD, SPD, ODD) and at us for homeschooling him. I didn't reply to it immediately, in fact, I debated if I should and if I do, how should I reply. So, at around 3 PM, I finally replied back with a nice comment basically saying, "Thank you for commenting, but I will have to disagree with you....being a parent of a child with special needs is very hard...thus I suggest you not comment on something that you may have little to no knowledge on." Well, I found that to be a waste of my time, because a few hours later he commented back with what I would say was a 5 page essay, with numerous links and all, to why we are bad parents for homeschooling our son and other links to "special needs" not being a real issue. Now, this sort of frustrated me and I am at an age now where I am just done with drama; therefore, I removed his comments and blocked him from my channel. I felt really bad about doing that, because I never wanted to silence any of my viewers. However, I felt he was taking it too far by the comments he was saying about my son, making him sound like he was just a horrible kid that didn't have ADHD and other special needs, and that my son was just a good manipulator. So, after dwelling on that choice to remove and block him, I remembered seeing a thumbnail from you guys on "haters." I am so glad I remembered that and to hear you guys say it is okay to block people that hate...made me feel 100% better and more confident about my decision to do so. Thus, thank you Benji and Sean for the creation of this video. It has totally made a difference in my life as a KZitemr and how I look at and react to comments. Keep up the good work guys!

People who enjoy putting people down, or labeling others, or crack jokes that are mean are one level. The others you touch upon have a guided mission to confuse people and lower content which you accurately assess as reaching out and success with a message. The extreme is organized gang stalking and harassment. The begnin is trolling and name calling. There is a technique mentioned that someone starts a rumor negative comment and Then suddenly others have the same experience or comment and View it as negative. It’s important to have thoughtful responses to thoughtful criticism. Nice video guys.

Very empowering for new content creators and ones that have been in the game for so long! I've experienced some downfalls, actually quite a bit from people I've known personally and actually lost relationships over creating content since my time on KZitem. After watching this video, it made me feel a lot better and I thought how silly it was that I let it bring me down so much like it did in the past. I am a newer KZitemr and I do read ALL my comments. Like you guys mentioned, sometimes haters can also help us better our videos, but if it’s something really negative and off, other words it isn't something that will help build or better my channel, I would definitely ignore it and move on. And most likely, the comment would be deleted. As for me, it’s not only negative comments online, but even offline; at family gatherings or events. People are very competitive in life and when they’ve saw that I posted a video, they just don’t understand the concept. The only concept their minds are open to obtain a college education, which it is a great thing to have, but I have no interest in that. I never try to argue with them or give them my side of the story, because some people are just stubborn and their argument is right no matter what. No time for that, lol. As of others, who give me feedback on how to better my channel, I definitely do take their ideas into consideration adding my own organic touch. ^-^

TahrahStar Hi and thanks for your comment. Yes, I have definitely seen those types of haters who attack someone elses comment. I usually can tell if they're really young by how they type. That is why I wished Judy would've addressed some of those haters like by saying: profanity will not be tolerated!! She then could have blocked a few of them. However, I feel that if I have something to say, I am not going to let a 11 or 13 yr. old tell me not to speak up about it due to maybe getting hate.( which had only happened to me one time over chocolate lol lol go figure!!) I am thinking about what you said about not leaving comments, only because I feel they don't get read by the person in whom I'm speaking to. I wish Sean and Benji would address this topic on here. I know there are others who feel this way. And if more people would speak up about it then maybe the internet/ comment sections would be a happier place for us their viewers, and for the creators as well. Good Luck and again and I do appreciate you speaking up!! We should fight the good fight:)))

Mine was over a suggestion for Charity if you can believe it lol. I have even lowered myself on occasion and fought back and then felt totally ashamed of myself because that really isn't who I am and I don't usually argue with children. Just because we don't always agree doesn't necessarily make us haters. that word is thrown around too much. Yes we must speak up and this would be a great point for Sean and Benji to address, I hope they read this. Thanks again for your reply and keep up the good fight!! :)

Ooooh this is making me think... I was thinking that sometimes (where it works) I could read the bad comments along with the good - like if I was live, asking a question and ask for comments. I thought reading anything might be funny and make me look like I have thick skin (even if I cry later lol). Buuuuut, maybe that wouldn't be a good strategy? It'd probably just invite people to get more negative and more creative with mean comments. I love the idea of publicly recognizing and celebrating the kind ones! I'm really glad I watched this video; you stopped me from making a mistake! Lol Thank you!!

Haters is such a great topic!! Thanks guys for touching on it. When I saw them on itsjudyslife I read them and felt bad for Judy and Benji. I think she used reverse psychology on them, by starting comment of the day:) Yes, it worked for the majority of the hate that they were recieving at that time. However, there's still a lot of it out there. I wish she would've addressed some the topics that she read, because sometimes they can be valid points. I think letting it go all the time isn't the way to go because it can disrupt those of us that do support them. However, with comment of the day it did defuse most of the hate. I never got comment of the day (not that I want to be just saying:) I was only thanked twice in two years. So I feel like they don't read my comments. I know that it's impossible for them to read all of the comments, but not to receive some kind of response other than two words, in two years is like why do I waste my time commenting?? I think I can speak for the majority of the people who have a few you-tubers that you watch everyday or every time they upload a new video. However, Sean has answered me more than twice in the last year! Which by the way was Greatly Appreciated by this viewer/supporter so thanks Sean for that. It really made my day to know that you read my comments and could find the time to answer me back:) I am wondering if most haters are under the age of twenty?? Sometimes, it seems like they just want attention or theye are having a bad day and need to take it out on someone that they can't do in their life. I can say that I personally never left a hate comment, but on a few occasions I had left a helpful comment or constructive type criticism with no hate ever intended. Anyway, great topic. Maybe next video could be for you guys to address why you tubers don't respond sometimes?? As I think that could be a great topic to help those making the videos as well as those of us who watch the content to not feel badly if we don't get a response. Keep crushing these videos guys I love this channel:)))

J G I totally agree with your comment about most of the 'haters' being under twenty. I have certainly noticed that on Judy's vlogs if you say anything remotely that her fan base (mostly young teenage girls) disagrees with they attack you in force. It can be very liberating when you are young to be able to hide behind a computer say what ever you want, use curse words etc. with no fear of retribution. I have learnt not to read or comment on vlogs, it's a very ugly place.

I can see both sides to this. I've left comments for different KZitemrs and didn't hear anything back, and when I've been planning my channel I've thought, "I'm going to make sure I reply to everyone who takes the time to comment to me." But now I'm not sure that will be realistic. I already feel so guilty about how much time I don't spend with my kids and husband, and I hardly ever have time to socialize. My good friend texted me yesterday and asked why I never talk to her anymore and I felt so terrible. I think at the end of the day I'll have to decide whether to take out some time for my family and friends, or whether to stretch myself so thin there's not a lot left for anyone. It's so hard to balance and it's going to get harder. So yeah - I have a lot of sympathy for both sides!

so good, guys. thanks so much. just found you today, and I'm spending WAY too much time on your channel. :-) I'm one of those folks whose "love language" is "words of affirmation," so the converse of that is that haters cut me pretty deep sometimes. #DoggoneIt However, I've learned (or, I'm learning) to turn it around, when possible. Recently had a fellow tell me that I had no business doing what I'm doing on our channel. I stewed over it for a while, then finally replied "Hey thanks for your honest assessment." He hasn't replied, so I don't know the effect on him, but I know the effect on me: I'm over it, because I dealt with it with grace. However, I've also dropped the ban hammer a few times on the incorrigibles. Hey thanks for a great video, and I look forward to learning a ton from you.

Thanks this video. I have to admit there have been a few times when I was so mad at something I had seen in a video and I blasted. But I wasn't blasting to be a jerk, there was a real issue presented and I guess I felt overly passionate about sharing my dislike. I did come to realize that I really need to just control my emotion over someone else's video, it's a vlog of someone else's life, not mine. Plus I don't want people hating on my content so I have developed a new appreciation for vlogging, even though I haven't really started vlogging yet. Your videos are much appreciated.

From what I remember, there are filters, so to speak, in your channel creator section where you put in certain words, and any comments that come in with those words in them won't be posted in your comments. There's also a thing where you can hide their comments. Thanks for this vid, tho I was kind of hoping you would make a list of one-liners to respond to trolls, haha. Maybe I'll make that list! :)

Thanks guys that helped a lot! However what if you are a devoted viewer and you asked your favorite KZitemr a question then all the other avid viewers attack you for asking a question, even the KZitemr herself took the question the wrong way? Wow did I ever get attacked. I hope you see this and can address this. I'm finding all the helpful videos for haters are addressing the KZitemr and not the viewers dealing with this. Thanks a bunch!! xoxo C

Ok I might've missed stated that a little bit. Not all the other viewers attacked me, many of them supported what I asked and understood. But I might want to clear that up. Thank you
