I am an HSP and that's one reason why I don't like having a big home. Big homes are good for extroverts who love having people in their home. I prefer small apartment. The less we have the better it is... after all HSPs don't have so much energy to maintain big homes either.

I really hate when people invite themselves. Did I invite you over ? No. Did I invite you to tag along ? No. Ugh !!

Deep gratitide. Ever since I realized I am an HSP about 2 months ago... my life changed. This time during a family trip, I took 20-20 minutes breaks thrice a day which kept me sane. You explain so well and kindly even for the non HSPs to understand. Thank you for adding ease and value to others' lives

My parents try to make it seem like I’m the bad person just because I don’t like having houseguests they gaslight me a lot and my parents tell me that is not ok not normal and they think something is wrong with me just because of that. I’m very quiet I keep to myself I don’t like having people over the noise, loud talking, screaming etc. gives me anxiety I can’t stand the mess either when there’s visitors over :(

Haha, so interesting, that so many people struggle with that! I always thought it's just me.. So sad, you didn't do any further episodes, because if so, I would love to invite you to an interview on one of our channels! :) I think High Sensitivity is such an important topic, that I decided to create my own podcast channel around it.

Hi there! I just got notified of your comments and wanted to thank you. My comments aren't really moderated unless someone puts up a bunch of URLs. I could see the notification of your message, but when I go to the video comment area, they are gone. :( I am going to try to check the settings and see if I can fix it! I LOVE your channel name and want to check this out later. I am one of those HSPs. :)

Hi Kelly and everyone around, I thought maybe you could help me. I am currently searching for information, valid information, sientific research on the neurological reasons for HS or sensory processing sensitivity. If someone knows any sources where I could find something on it, i would be very very grateful! PS: if there are any mistakes in language and grammer: I am really sorry about them but I am not a native speaker...

I have never been able to stay with even my parents for more than 4 nights. Weird hearing that that is the limit for other HSPs too ha.

So our guests brought a lot of alcohol and treated our air bnb like a frat house. Even though they act that way at home, I never thought they would be that way in someone else’s home. Their excuse, “they are on vacation.” When you are staying in someone else’s home, should you really act like you are on vacation in Mexico?

Is there a corelation between oce and hsp? I have both and they are similar to me. Its hard cause the stuff you explain sometimes fits ocd and i am definitely a hsp all the way but have some ocd tendencies

These struggles we have can manifest into disorders if we don’t take care of ourselves or from childhood trauma.

After this episode it is clear you dont know how empathy works. You are sensitive to your needs . When you are asking a gueat to stay at hotel...dont say my house is being rennovated, less space . That is to say you have problems that they ahould be a part of in helping . You are asking for help from your guest ? Then they are not your guest. Asking them the right question to know what they need and what they have planned for the visit will make you an empathetic person. If the guests have planned to share hours on home vooked meals , they wont stay at hotel. If the guests have respiratory illeness , allergies they cant stay at a hotel , an air bn b might work where there is kitchen and environement is their style. Hotels are for people who are on business trips with mini.um needs . For families with kids, elderly, sick or injured people...hotels will not work. They will need care. If you dont want to spend time in learni g and going in converstion with what their plans and expectations are ....you will not be good place to host them. Its okay to say no to hosting if you have no interest to learn what they want from you. You will be aurprised that most of the time people who visit only want to be heard. Imagine listening to their podcast ...ask them about them and they will connect to your emotions in a sec. It feels very sick qhen again we are on the path in creating time out zones, personal spaces, me time, i dont make a differance etc. This is all from 1990 s . Pleaee checkout public school teacher videos and blogs yo see how collabrative learning, empathy , community parternship, gratitude and generosity can be practiced without self isolation. We dont need alone time anymore. Anyone who graduated from college in 2000 had to learn team work and hosting a guest is the same effort.
