Have you ever been rejected from an interview and/or job offer from a company that you would've LOVED to work for?....I can understand how heartbreaking that is 💔. Let me know your experience below and what steps you took to do better next time!

Linda Raynier Had a interview last month and was led on to believe that I was getting the job and they just needed some time to get paperwork done, then the sole HR guys wife had a baby so I gave it more time (2 weeks) and waited as the recruiter told me. I was told by the recruiter that “they want to hire you, it will just take some weeks to get paperwork done so they just want you to hold on”. During this time my good friend and coworker resigned, I was happy for him and figured I would ask him later where he was going etc etc cause we are friends. 30 minutes before he was saying his goodbyes someone asked him where he was going and he said Company X for position Y. I had to put a smile on my face and wave him goodbye to my new job. And then I had drive home to start my family vacation. This job was going to propel me to the next phase of my career. I have been rotting at my current job for 9 years, everyone I started with has left but God just wants to torture me and make me watch while someone else gets the job that I was told I was getting. I was on top of the world during this whole time, I was going to FINALLY move on, I had cleaned my desk and bought a new wardrobe and ALL ALONG the person sitting next to me was filling out new HR paperwork. Then I tried to go online and ask for help and people criticized me for “not being happy for my friend”. I am not going to be happy for him and as of yesterday I don’t plan on being friends with him anymore, he took something right from under me and God gave it to him. EVERYONE WAS LYING TO ME! EVERYONE! INCLUDING GOD! and to rub salt on my wounds God made me watch and find out that this guy had taken my job. My first job interview for a risk analyst position was given to a bank teller (call me rude but that’s exactly what happened) because head of HR cannot keep his hands off a certain profile of woman and always needs them around. My second job interview made me wait 50 minutes for an accountant position and then put the position on hold. My third job interview asked me if I could behave like a mature adult because that’s how toxic their workplace is that they have to ask this question to candidates and my fourth interview lead me on and then gave the job to my ex friend. Life is great! Nothing like going back to work and seeing the empty desk next to you is because the guy got your dream job that he wasn’t even qualified for, because you know his work profile. YAYYYYY time to get hit by a bus! 👍🏽

I just got rejected from a job that I applied and interviewed with previously, and this is my second rejection. This second time around, I thought I'd land it for sure because of how much I practiced, prepped, and the interview went so well to the point that I had a follow-up phone interview. The phone interview was about 2 weeks later, and the nerves were kicking in, which makes me believe I didn't get the job because of my lack of confidence via phone call. Today, I received a call from the HR manager who let me know I wasn't selected for the position, however, she wants to keep my records on file for another position that will be opening in the near future. If this wasn't God given, I don't know what is, but it's just so crazy to me that she thought of me personally for the new marketing role that sounds more in my field, and not to mention, the pay is much higher than what I initially had been applying for. I just wanted to share my story/experience that has been bittersweet, but I also wanted to ask for any uplifting advice or what you think I should focus on going forward? I really want to work for this company, and it hurts to know I've been rejected twice. Maybe I need to cry it out, but the last thing I want to do is give up.

Same thing happened to me. I had three two hour group interviews, one week apart. During each interview I 'd hear comments like "awesome" or "perfect" after I'd answer some questions. I sent thank you notes to everyone I interviewed with and actually got a couple of responses saying things like "I'm so happy someone qualified for the job applied and was brought in". I've done EVERY aspect of this job for eleven years! I should have been offered this job. I was rejected and it makes no sense, being 58 years old I can only assume I was again, a victim of age discrimination. . . something I can never prove, but its the only thing that makes sense. I’m trying to start my career in marketing out of college and it’s so frustrating getting rejection after rejection. I’ve been rejected to 5 in person interviews, 15 phone screenings, and dozens of applications. I’ve gone to my school’s career counselor for multiple resume reviews, cover letter reviews, and mock interviews. The only critiques I get are super minor and they say otherwise I’m doing a good job. Some days I just want to give up. I can’t even see where I will be in a month. It’s so disheartening especially when ALL of my peers already have jobs waiting for them after graduation. And I have to say to them “still looking” with a plastered on smile on my face pretending it’s ok but it’s not ok. It’s really not. I hate the looks of pity I get so much. I just want some company to want me. I feel worthless.

Welcome to the club. I’m a law school graduate who passed two bar exams. I have two part time jobs, one of which is at a law firm where I’m making minimum wage as a glorified paralegal. At least you’re getting interviews and phone screening. I’ve been rejected for approximately 50 Graduate jobs from the initial CV/CL/Online testing phase. I customise all my CV’s and CL’s for positions and my marks in online applications are above average. Those three alone take hours to do and it’s so Frustrating when you get that rejection and it’s the usual “thank you, but no” with no feedback, and in my case, like today, usually given on a Friday evening... yay weekend. I’ve also been to career consultants and they say my CV is well written and appealing and they always say “can’t believe you haven’t been hired yet” I appreciate the comments but that doesn’t exactly help my situation?! Best course of action is to keep applying... hope for t best.

I hate when people act like getting a job is so easy because they're obviously still living in an optimistic mindset about an economy that ended 20 years ago. The job market can be extremely competitive at times, I'm a current job seeker so I would know. Even some minimum wage jobs are hard to get because employers want someone with experience but there's little to nothing for people with no experience.

I'm now going through something similar. With only three days left until the end of my seven-day probationary term, I was in the middle of my fourth training day. As I woke up, I was surprised to receive a message from my supervisor informing me that my employment would be terminated immediately. I was quite perplexed because I'd like to believe that in addition to being competent for the position, I've also been careful in following all requirements and shown my enthusiasm throughout the training. In our most recent activities, she praised me. I'm assuming I may have made some mistakes or something, but I was hoping for at least some feedback so I'd know what to work on. I'm feeling so down right now, and it stinks because I can't help but question my abilities. As they value feedback, I had hoped to at least receive some from them, but sadly, I haven't even received that.

Another rejected here. Just got an e-mail from a company I interviewed at the other day that I wasn't selected. I can totally understand that one might not be a good fit for the team, lack some technical or interpersonal skills, etc. However, I really don't understand, and never will, how the companies indicate that the reason for your rejection was a specifil skill they KNEW you did not have. In my case, I applied for a role in administration and have said within the first 5 minutes of the phone screening that I did not have scheduling experience. However, they still invited me to the second interview, which lasted 2 hours (plus all the time I spent on preparation), just to e-mail me and say that they needed someone with scheduling experience! Why are you wasting my time and creating false expectations, when you probably have me as a 2nd choice at best?.. I'm upset because I really wanted to move to that city. But oh well, life goes on, and I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Let's not give up :)

Truly, if it is meant to be, it will be. We have an idea of what we think we want or what we think is best for us. God or the universe or whatever you believe has a completely different perspective and a rejection is meant to push us in the correct direction that is meant for us. We had down the path we want, when we get rejected, we get pushed down another path and that rejection was meant to happen or we would’ve continued down the path that wasn’t truly part of the bigger destiny meant for us.

It’s hard to work on something when the company doesn’t respond back. There is no feedback on what to work on. I’ve had my resume reviewed by friends and resume gurus. I think there are some resume gurus are helpful and some resume gurus are in it only for the money and not truly out there to help. The focus should be to stay positive and do your best to learn from your interviews if you ever get one.

As I mentioned in a comment below, I think we make the mistake of confabulating reasons for rejection, but the way I've learned to think of it is (metaphorically), if ten actors read for one part, nine aren't gonne get picked and it means nothing about their value and worth. Don't get picked this time, read for the next one. As long as we know it doesn't mean anything about us, we'll be able to do that.

Is it possible to get rejected for being pretty? 😬 my outer appearance does not reflect what’s on the inside of my mind. I’m very innocent looking, but my mind is very analytical & deep. My innocent demeanor fools people. At least if i get invited for an interview, i get a chance to show them my capability & seriousness. This is frustrating!

I have been rejected way too many times. It’s very discouraging when you’re trying to make a career change and when you try to continually improve yourself in an interview (hence why i’m watching these kind of videos). I am now suffering from depression and my confidence is now rock bottom and it just messes up with your mental health. Am I simply not just good enough to move forward in my career? You know what they say “the squeakiest wheel gets the grease” only those who best sell themselves in an interview are the most successful in this step of the hiring process.

I've gained international work experience in the last 2.5 years and upon returning to my hometown, I've been seeking work related to my previous job experience abroad. I've been rejected at least 8 times in the last 3 months. I never had this problem in my life. A part of me feels like prospective employers view international work experience as a bad thing, even though I was working for reputable companies.

Ive been depressed and stressed these past few weeks because I feel like my family is pressuring me to get a job.I already applied more than seven times and the more days passed the more my hope becomes lower and lower.Fortunately,I got a call a few days ago for a job interview.I was really happy but still I ready myself for the possibility that they might not give me the job offer. I was really excited though. Today supposed to be my interview but when I got there they said the person who will interview me wasn't there. I tried to call the person who called me and they said the person who supposed to interview me had quit so my interview will not gonna happen.I was really disappointed and devastated.Im crying right now in my room😢 Its really heart breaking

@@user-vc9or5uc4x one thing I did to gain experience was literally working for a company in the HR department for free for around 1 month. I worked roughly 2-3 days/week and it ranged from 5-7hr shifts. I was working part time at a Casino during this as well. I know some people don't have time on their hands but when you do, give it a try. I just got rejected from a "no-experience required" job knowing damn well I was qualified. It's their loss. You are valuable. A lucky company would witness that when they hire you.

Faced two rejections in a week, both from really top notch firms that I wanted to work for. It hurts a lot because I had 7-8 rounds of interviews with both, meeting everyone in their teams and truly felt like they saw me as one of their own. It feels like all the time I had invested was for nothing. More than feeling hurt, I am overwhelmed by exhaustion both from the long processes I’ve been through but also the thought of having to start from scratch. Learning from failure is important, but it makes it even more painful when you have to rethink and analyse the moments you failed!

I'd rather live during the Black Plague than deal with the absolute, unabating misery that is jobhunting. My self-esteem is being grounded into mince. I wanna cry every single day. I wanna fucking scream at everyone who gives me any piece of advice because I've literally done it all. But at the bottom of it all, is that nagging sense that I've wasted every single year I spent at university was an utter waste of time and that I will end up working the same worthless troglodyte wageslave job I had before i graduated. But I don't even get answers from those positions anyway. And even if I would get a job, that's just something that would improve my abiltiy to survive. Not be happy. It's like being napalmed with fractal bullshit that fucks you no matter what you do.

Something that helps me is comparing interviews to auditions. In many dance/acting auditions, they already known what type of performer they’re looking for. Sometimes employers already have someone in mind for the position but they’re keeping an open door for someone else who stands out or has better qualifications. So if you don’t land it, that’s OKAY! Just treat it like an audition and TRY AGAIN! 😃

I was rejected for a job today that I really wanted. I was led to believe that I had the job, but interviewing was a formality. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. I am heartbroken, more heartbroken than I ever thought I would be from not getting a job. Since I thought I would get this position, I messed up my other employment (scheduling issues). I am feeling overwhelmed with emotion, and I really don’t know where to go from here, or if I should even continue to apply for similar jobs. This was really crushing for me.

I spent two whole days trying to perfect my answers and the presentation they tasked me with. The interview went pretty well I didn't stutter. I even asked questions at the end. They told me the result would be out today. I stayed up till 2a.m the next day and still no email. They didn't even bother to give me any sort of closure. It hurts so bad. Now I can't even sleep. Whenever I try to close my eyes a thousand questions flood my mind. What did I do wrong? Was I that bad? Do I even have a chance getting a job? I know this is a part of the recovery process and that it'll get better, but still I'm feeling terrible now.

How I get over a job rejection... 1- Build a website. 2- Join their affiliates program if they have one. 3- Make irresistible content. 4- Plug those affiliate links in. 5- Collect ad revenue. I do this for every employer that rejects me because I'm sick of the application process, sick of the interviewing process, sick of it all. I've tried so many ways to ~improve~ and become better, but no avail. And I'm so very sorry I have employment gaps--that kind of happens when employers won't hire you--it's an endless vicious cycle of employers putting you down for being unemployed.
