I may also add, make sure you are as strong as fast as they are, if you are going to play as a defender this is a must. The rest is your ability to time him, to read the ways he comes with the ball, to have fast reflexes.

For me it’s Im keeping up I Run I I miss the ball by an inch they act like I’ve hit them and not the air and hold there knees in the air and groan 😩

Centre back here, best thing to do with physical players is they love things to feet and chest, only get touch tight if it’s to chest, if it’s to feet don’t watch the receiver watch the player about to make the pass and time your interception or arrive as the pass is about to be played (gives the attacker less thinking time, they always play it back) at that point retreat back into position. Don’t give them time to think about rolling you, setting the ball and turning, or pinning you. If you get pinned leave an arms reach distance (dark arts, you can use that hand to give them nudges) but more importantly give yourself a better starting position for a foot race if he sets the ball and tries running in behind or if he tries to roll you your starting position has some distance so you can anticipate.
