In this video I show you how to depin a connector.
If just the plastic portion of the connector is broken it makes sense to just replace it instead of cutting off the old connector and spending extra time crimping or soldering a new one on.
To do this you simply remove the old contacts from the old connector and pop them into a new connector.
The exact process varies from connector to connector I show two examples in this video.
However if the old connectors contacts are damaged or corroded you MUST cut the old connector off and splice a new one in. In order to prevent a repeat failure.
Another sign of bad contacts is melted plastic on the connector that signifies that there is a high resistance connection creating excessive heat.
