What's your own tips to reduce motion sickness in your game ?

1) I found that adding a visual cue specifically to the hands that indicate speed+direction works really well; for moving with speed/flying.* I believe it works well because our hands are already points of sensory adjustment and present in the virtual space visually. 2) Design for room scale experiences and let the virtual room scale experience be 1:1 with the players actual movement. *(Just keep the effect away from covering the player's field of view, because that completely defeats the purpose, and makes you go: "Agh! #@!T".) I love your videos! Also, if you have time, I have a question: How far back are your videos here on KZitem compatible with the current SteamVR API?

I made a giant mecha game a while ago. Using the reduced FOW helped, but I still had to somehow make the mech move up and down while walking, to simulate the heaviness. The trick was to make it really slow (about 8 seconds for the entire cycle), so that even my most motion sickness prone friends can enjoy the feel, but stay vomit free :D

@@kianchristoffern Can you elaborate on point 1 please? Should I just add a speedometer to the hands? xD

A video on optimization?! Yes, please! I really only know of one high-level one that was very helpful for my Quest, but I want to know more!
yep, I second, a video on optimization would be great! Or alternatively a good tutorial on Quaternions?

Nice tutorial. Because I have gotten motion sickness my whole life, this topic is really important to me as a developer. Thanks for mentioning Tunneling Pro; I will try it.

@@abhinavsaha3342 I like movement usually but I like when there is an option for teleportation just in case.

Video title should be: How to annoy advanced VR players ;-) Although I agree with you that those techniques may help some newbies - Too often developers are forcing those comfort options on players. Add all the comfort options you like, but never force comfort options on players! I'm basically playing VR like any other fast paced FPS game. If a game restricts my movements, I'll move on to another game. Smooth turning/strafing FTW

Hello !

I heard that minecraft was having difficulty with the motion sickness since everything around you is basically "steps" up or down! They should implement this and their problems would be solved

I don't see it mentioned, but for fps (and more) if you're working on a game that will also run on an oculus you can use ovr metrics. They're pretty handy.

I completely support giving accessibility options so more people can play, but at some parts you said 'don't' do this, or 'don't' do that, and while these are things that cause motion sickness, if we strictly never used them, then we wouldn't get amazing games like boneworks.
