Hello KZitem!
I recently had this problem and found the lack of information online disconcerting. This is a fairly straight forward job, so my guess is most mechanics didn't want to bother taking the time to explain how to do it and potential issues one can run into for the internet. Their loss is my gain, so I decided to put together a little clip show narrating things.
I've embedded parts numbers, tools, and additional commentary within the body of the video. Hopefully some of you find it useful. As always, leave a comment if you have any questions or issues and I'll chime in if I can help.
Edit: Hey gang, so I've been watching a lot of The Car Care Nut recently and he pointed out in his videos the importance of using OE or OEM branded parts. The hoses I purchased are marked OEM but as we learned weren't quite the same fit. While for an inexpensive vehicle like this it probably won't make that much of a difference, as you move onto higher end vehicles (or simply want to maintain a good professional standard) try to use branded or verified OE manufactured stuff. For Toyota he mentioned "Ansen" products. I do not know who Mazda uses to manufacture their parts so do your research!
Additionally: On further research the screw on style hose-clamp I utilized is purportedly a mixed bag. If you can get away with re-using the original squeeze type, do that. Screw types tend to be easily over tightened or under tightened depending on climate conditions and don't always expand with heat as well as the clamp style. While this shouldn't be a major issue, it's just something to keep in mind if you're the kind of person who wants to do the job right. I do not want to lead anyone astray here as I'm just an amateur wrencher trying to help people out. Make your own decisions, check your tensions, and don't skimp on a good torque wrench if the job calls for a specific torque value.
Addendum a little later: Don't forget to check your coolant reservoir after you've driven around for a while, IE a week or two. A little more air will be forced out of the system and you'll need to top up!
