Have you read the online journal artificial-lite.co.uk by the very knowledgeable angler Eric Weight? It was Eric who first introduced me to the method dibbling through reading about it in his journal. Sadly he no longer contributes to the journal

Kept that to myself for a long time. It does make a difference. Not so much with your floating lures. Although some floating lures are too buoyant and can go the opposite way still sitting bolt upright.

Do you know how deep the central channel is on most canals? Leeds/Liverpool canal in particular? I'm wondering how long to wait with a countdown rapala before retrieval if I'm wanting to fish just off the bottom? Should I let it sink all the way ? Mayb count to 5? Subscribed btw

Your best option is to cast the jighead and count how long it takes to reach the bottom. You can do this by casting to the desired area and flipping the vail arm or trapping the line with your finger. Basically keep the line tight. You may be better to do this with a slightly heavier jighead. You will feel when the jighead hits bottom. If the count is say 2 or 3 seconds then next time you cast count to say 1 & a half before starting to retrieve. Hope that makes sense? If not I’ll do a video for you.

@@thelunchtimefisherman4921 I understand what ya mean, I'll try that, iv been trying to keep my spinners deeper so actually been feeling them down, I'll just do same thing and count it down with a 7 or 10g jig .. cheers. Had 2 short sessions on a bit of new river and blanked both times 😑
