YES, YES, YES! Please continue broadcasting the preaching once daily online Masses come to an end. I get so much out of your homilies, Bishop; I learn how to better read and understand the Scriptures, and how to find the nuggets. I grew up listening to my own father's sermons in the Methodist church; he loved hermeneutics, spent hours crafting his sermons, and was a charismatic preacher. Maybe it was my youth, but I never profited as much as I do from your insights. My dad received excellent schooling (Candler at Emory), but was hampered by the scaled down theology of Protestantism . I also think that the Catholic church has a decided advantage in the depth of our apologetics. So yes, please continue with the preaching! And thank you God, for bringing me into the fullness of faith in THE Church!

They have so much in common with respect to seeking the “Nones”, playing it smart instead of dumbing it down, and listening to challenging voices. My takeaway - Let my argument always be about truth and love never about winning. These points are also helpful to look for in others so I know when not to engage in an argument. About offering online Mass - I was really sad to hear it may be discontinued. I understand the need to stop the virtual Sunday Mass however please consider keeping the weekday Mass. The principle of finding the truth together is universal. Many years ago the Harvard Business School published a small paper back on how to negotiate. They based on the same principle. It is refreshing to hear your intellectual dialogue. Definitely has a place for many of Catholic in leadership position. However, the majority of Catholics: practicing, drop out or now ‘nones’, do not have the same background education or intellectual capacity as you or your WOF team. Jesus comes down to his people’s level when he teaches. Regardless of what level we are at, we can still argue constructively and simply. I first learn from arguing with my children. :)

Robert Barron addresses a worthy topic here, and one that really needs careful attention in our times. Having followed Barron’s thoughtful, if often highly tendentious, presentations over the years, it’s striking how often he resorts to hand-waving dismissals of the arguments of important and profound thinkers like David Hume. On a number of occasions he airily chuckles away the work of contemporary thinkers like Daniel Dennett or Sam Harris, yet candidly acknowledges (in one of the several videos in which he explores possible reasons for the ‘rise of the nones’) that “the likes of Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens are out-arguing us”. If Robert Barron is serious about acting on the worthy precepts he sets forth, he could try borrowing from the playbook of one of his adversaries, Sam Harris. Try “steel-manning” the position and arguments of your interlocutor or intellectual adversary i.e. address the strongest version of the case. It is welcome that Robert Barron, as one of the most articulate and erudite officers of the Roman Catholic church, has affirmed that those who are unpersuaded of the supernatural can still be moral and ethical individuals; note his moving tribute to the late Christopher Hitchens. An earlier generation of Church leaders were not so generous In this regard. It would be instructive for many of us to see Robert Barron explore this topic some more.

He is the most combative arguers and I have to just say we need to agree to disagree and just not talk about certain topic like religion and politics. We totally disagree on those issues and my dad is like the Energizer bunny when it comes to arguments. He doesn't stop and he does all the things you talked about not doing. Brothers and sisters, we're called to be righteous, truthful, and just. Pray for all our spiritual fathers and mothers, and listen to their words, especially our priests and Pope Francis! Ours is the Spirit of love and truth, not of fear and discord. Keep a critical eye on those who raise proud voices and proclaim division or terror. We pray for an end to confusion and division yet often, it is we ourselves who actually start it. Read all things carefully and in love, and never misrepresent anyone. Let's deny ourselves for Christ, and love our enemies. Let's stay holy and repent, and never forget to convert, convert your eyes to the wider world outside our comforts, of the poor, the little, and the lowly. We are one body, the mystical Body of Christ. Not for ourselves or one group do we live, but for all, as the Lord sustains us all!

Sometimes someone quotes a saying or opinion then attributes it to a famous person to make it more important. If the saying or opinion needs a famous person to be made valid then it should be in the rules to question the famous person otherwise don't use the famous person. And sometimes, sayings would have been made up by no bodies then as soon as a famous person says it, then they get the credit for making it up.
