For anyone still curious, check out page 176 of the owner’s manual (For 2020, might be different for other years). Talks about double paddle declutch being used for rapid and standard exit where the degree of takeoff is governed by how far you press the accelerator upon release. Really interesting stuff. I would imagine this could help when exiting a corner.

I hypothesized that this in some way could allow for clutch kicking a C8 for drifting purposes. I asked Corvette engineers but they didn't get back to me.

Can you do this while moving and driving? Or does it only work when at a perfect stand still? What happens if you’re moving and re engage the gear? Does it jerk?
@DannyDrives

I think the intention is to "showoff" at a red light. I reached out to Chevy engineers to see if it could function as a clutch kick in drifting but I never heard back.

@@DannyDrives damn, because I saw this video of an 812 gts revving it’s engine while driving on the freeway and I’m trying to find out how he did it without being in a manual. The closest I’ve gotten is seeing this trick with many DCTs where you can hold both paddles down but I could t find a vid of someone doing it while driving. Is it too much to ask for you to test it yourself while driving? I don’t want you to put your transmission at risk

Is it smart to disengage the clutch while pushing the gas?

Its all to rev the engine freely. Engineered to show off.

Most of the dual-clutch transmissions hold the car in neutral, at least keep it from rolling back. You're sitting there with the clutch disengaged. Moving to first gear on any dual clutch means the transmission is aware you intend to move and as you touch the throttle the electronics take control of the engine throttle and clutch uptake to get you moving. Throttle position then determines how it accelerates. The single biggest problem with any DCT is a driver who uses launch control. Nissan a few years ago voided the warranty when you used it. Audi, Porsche, Bentley, BMW, and even Lamborghini use DCTs these days. Mercedes has the most robust design that uses a wet clutch less launch control.

Yeah it was pointless in like the 2009 GT-R, apparently it would fry the DCT. Not sure why it would be a feature they would put in the car then, like some sort of warranty voiding entrapment.

I'm looking at c8s to buy right now and if it says it has a 8 speed manual transmission.. is it only manual? Or can it still be used as an automatic

@@G82Watts I have one, it means it's an 8 speed automatic that can be shifted full manual...I have a Z06 and it's shifts flawlessly in automatic mode both up and down, it's amazing ...peace

The Camaro doesn't actually have a DCT, only a 10-speed auto.

it was oddly easy to find everything, so much easier scanning up and down than going left to right on multiple levels in a car you have never been in
