Perfect timing. I have a sawyer mini that needs to be disinfected. This just reminded me to do it tonight.

I really appreciate your knowledge and advice . The only thing I would do differently is allow the filter to dry then go back and run the purified water through it the 2 or 3 times you suggest. So should a situation arises. Its ready to go and I'm not caught with back against the wall . But this video is truly educational and thank you so much for the posting .

Good information. If you have a Camel back or other water containers. The cleaning water could be used to rinse them out before storage.

Thanks for the great tip Ive been holding off on using my filters as I haven't wanted to dirty them and then store them and have them mold. The bleach disinfectant step would eliminate this risk so I can use them as I please now!

Perfect timing. I just used a new water bag yesterday and was wondering if the bleach would hurt it. I got my little bottle of bleach a couple weeks ago. It looks like you're using the splashless bleach. Is that just how it looks in the video? I should be checking the PO this week for an envelope from AZ! ;)

100mm tube of justice I like the Sawyer mini. Supposedly good for 100000 gallons. Comes with a back flush kit. About 20 dollars at Wally world.

The Sawyer squeeze is my favorite. $30 and will filter 1 million gallons. The mini is excellent too. :-)

100mm tube of justice Both of them are good filters. Which one to buy would be based on your usage requirements . The Lifestraw is a good filter based on reviews. I chose the mini for the compact size.

Thanks for great information! I would just like to add that it's not recommended to pour the chlorinated water into the nature - this is highly toxic for aquatic organisms.

That's one of the reasons I won't build my new RV trailer with a fresh water tank. The water gets brackish because it's almost impossible to keep it clean without disinfecting the entire system every week. I'd rather use water jugs and a hand pump. My build is starting on paper and looks unusual to say the least, but it's going to be built with both RV park and off grid use.

The only bleach I can find in my locale without all the extra crap in it is economy value thin bleach which has a lower concentration of sodium hypochlorite in it, about 1/3 the concentration. 1.5g per 100ml. Thick bleach has 4.5g per 100ml.
