Thank you very much for this video. I have Shasta Daisies on one side of my garden and wanted to buy new ones for the other side. I didn't know dividing them was this easy.

@@GetGardening lol funny you should ask that as I'm currently looking out my window to big wet snow. But in general things are beginning to wake up nicely... just gotta get through April in the mountains!

I’m surprised to hear that you still have snow! I’m glad to hear it’s generally beginning to waken up. I’m really enjoying seeing leaves again on trees 🌳

Looking forward to seeing your garden in full bloom, especially the cherry! Its amazing that you have all of those beautiful daisies from just one of your mother's plants. Thanks for the video!🙂

@@GetGardening Yes, I was a little hesitant about dividing mine, but I see now I'd probably have way more if I had divided them earlier.

I forgot to add that I started crazy daisies from seed last year and put them on both sides of my sidewalk. They did great on one side and ended up spotty on the other side. Knowing I can do this makes it sooo much easier to fill in the area!! I didnt get many blooms this year but I’m expecting a big show this summer!

Will the divisions of daisies bloom the first year that you plant them? I thought perhaps disturbing the roots may make them not settle in enough to bloom the first season. I have a clump that is ready to divide. Thank you for the informative videos.

Great question RV. The answer is Yes! They will certainly bloom the first year and perform better each year for the next 2-3 years. Definitely worth doing!

I have a super big margarita daisy and it becomes woody at the roots end. I planted it 2 years ago. Should I dig up the whole thing and use a knife to divide? It looks like not an easy job.

Is early August too late to divide plants (such as daisies and mums)? New gardener here…
@GetGardening

They probably would survive with proper care. But I personally would never divide in August. Probably better to wait until next spring if you can

can you do this with larger already established daisy?
