Great video sir, but I didn't understand the refilling process, my bad. So if i started with 50 gallons of nutrients for example, how do I do the refill so i end up using 250 gallons of nutrients, for example.

Question but first I want to thank you for making this channel and spreading your knowledge. I'm learning a lot & easier than being in class. Here is my question. I'm growing autoflowers and they don't really need veg nutrients. How would you feed with maxibloom which has a npk of 5-15-14 using krafty technic?

Hey Daniel:) I keep coming back to this amazing video of yours. Last year I used Masterblend in my kratky setup, and used the B-solution from this video to replenish with, and it worked well on tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and ground cherries. I have a few questions, that I hope you can answer. When I do the Masterblend solution, should I go for the EC reading, that is normally recommended for the plant, or should I go for the EC from the A+B+C solution from this video? As I understand the numbers, your EC is only around 1.4, which seems pretty low? Also when I mix the B-solution from this video, I end up with an EC around 0.6, is that right? And is it enough for tomatoes for instance? Thanks from Denmark Jens

Hello from Greece! Thank you for your continuous high quality content! I would like to ask if you have a refill formulation for non fruiting plants that need higher nitrogen concentrations compared to potassium. Do you use ammonium nitrate in that case? Thank you
@ScienceinHydroponics

Thanks for writing! When growing basil plants I used the same refill formulation I used for the tomatoes, just refilling with potassium nitrate and it worked fine. However the pH did increase more aggressively when growing the basil, so I did need to add a bit of nitric acid to the refill to lower the pH of the Kratky solution. Let me know what your experience is with refill solutions.

Hello Great video and thank you for making the resource available I am unable to find Anhydrous Iron Sulfate in my country unless ordering huge quantities. Why is Iron (II) Sulfate Heptahydrate not suitable for this application? Also would I be able to use Tetrasodium EDTA instead of Disodium EDTA? I know that Tetra operates at a higher pH but would it still work as intended? Thanks!

Hey Daniel:) Thanks for yet another great video, I really love your channel and its high quality content. I use Masterblend for my four 3oo liters kratky tubs, but I would like to make your B-solution for replenishing to minimize the risk of toxic nutrient accumulation. The sad thing is, that I don’t seem to be able to buy the two salts anyware, as a private person, in my country (Denmark). We have a law, that you can’t buy pure Potassium Nitrate as a private person, because it can be used to make explosives. Do I have any other options? Are there other salts I could use, that are available to the public? Or do you think I would be able to find a pure NPK fertilizer without micronutrients, that would be suitable? And if I’m only able to find a soil grade pure NPK fertilizer, would it be advisable to use this, since the majority of the N probably would come from ammonium and maybe urea, and I don’t have any bacteria for conversion? Last question:) In some of your videos, you say, that it’s not good for at plant to uptake a big proportion of it’s N as ammonium. Is this only because it will lower the pH of the nutrient solution, or are there other reasons? Thanks Jens Denmark

Thanks for writing Jens. You do need the pure salt. There are often suppliers available on amazon for small amounts of potassium nitrate, even in the EU. About the ammonium, the problem is two fold. The first is the acidification of the media and the second is ammonium toxicity. Ammonium can become toxic to the plant as it is dependent on carbon transport from the leaves to be moved away from the roots. If there is not enough photosynthesis to match the level of ammonium input, the plant roots can die. The problem is that ammonium uptake is very fast, so this can happen rather quickly if ammonium is fed to a plant in large amounts.

Will you be adding this concept to your calculator?
@ScienceinHydroponics
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for writing. There are no plans to do so. The calculator was designed from the ground up to do only A+B formulations, it would take a complete rebuild to do A/B/C and it would be even more challenging to be able to split the same substance among multiple solutions, like it's done here.

Hello, thank you for sharing all this useful information. I was just wondering is it possible to mix 2x volume of B solution + 1x volume of C solution into a complete B solution (B + C = new B). Is the nutrient concentrations safe to be use like this.
@ScienceinHydroponics

I wouldn't recommend doing that.

Final solution will be at around 700ppm, can I use it for tomatos and pepers or should I add 20 ml of concentrate instead of 10 to 1L for 1400ppm?

If i will use large enough container to not refill do I use the same solution strength? Also how concentrated the A B C solutions can be? like 1:100 is standard? How long can they be stored and do they degrade over time?

Hi, I see that you add Monopotassium Phosphate in B and C, is that correct? For smaller measures, how do you handle 0,0Xgr or 0,163? I cannot find Molybdate, is it 100% necessary? Thanks for the video and for the app. How can I comment/ask you some things about the app?
@ScienceinHydroponics
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. You can add MKP to B or C. For smaller measurements, use a finer scale, I normally use +/-0.01 max 500g scales for these measurements. You can also get +/-0.001 max 10g scales for a low cost. For comments/requests on the app, please access the page on github and leave the request there.

Thank you for your videos, they are very simple to understand to someone that is new to hydroponics like me. Can you please do a preparation video of these A,B,C nutrients like you have done in the past with A&B nutrients solution preparation. I'm a visual learner lol.

Hello, would this fertilizer application apply to the autopot system using cococoir as well for tomatoes?. I have tried kratky, ebb and flow, and nft and constantly get plant tress { leaf curling and burning). With the masterblend product i can see it would be easy to do this and leave out the magnesium sulfate and calcium nitrate.
@ScienceinHydroponics
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. Since autopot systems have higher oxygenation they will also have much higher nutrient uptake rates. Most probably the solution would need to be modified according to your setup and plant needs. You do need to be really careful about your EC/pH values to ensure they are always in proper range. If you try it on your system let us know what your experience is.
