DJI Mini 4 Pro creates .lrf files with same framerate as main video. I'm shooting in 60fps and .lrf files are 60fps too :)

I followed all directions, but there is no symbol shown on the file, either on the media pool or the timeline in Davinci Resolve. I tried deleting the timeline and files from the DR media pool and re-importing them. Also deleted the DR project and closed DR, then restarted DR and made a new project, re-imported the media after making sure the Proxy subfolders in media file locations was still checked, still no symbol. Does this only work with the paid version of DR?

Hello David! 🙂No, I only own the free version of Davinci, so it works fine there. If you have done everything correctly, it should work fine. Basically you should have only one folder. This folder contains all your regular files as well as the "Proxy" folder. The "Proxy" folder contains your renamed .lrf files. The names of the files need to remain exactly the same, just the ending has to be changed either in .mp4 or in .mov. If you did set the check mark in "Davinci Resolve/Preferences.../System/Media Storage/Proxy Generation Location on "Proxy subfolders in media file locations" it must work. Oh! I hope you did not import the renamed files in you project!!! You need to import ONLY the original high resolution files! Let me know if this solved your problem.

@@TheBestShowman I noticed the DJI file I shot at 4K60 had an lrf file that was only 30fps. That might be why it didn't work as a proxy in Resolve. I tested a DJI full resolution 30fps file, and the lrf file was also 30fps. That worked with your directions. Thanks!

@@davidGrainger I am glad you found out what the problem was. I didn't realize the DJI lrf files have a different frame rate shooting at 60FPS or higher. Shooting at 30 or lower the files have the same frame rate, I just checked. I will update the info. Thank you! 🙂

Hi, I am shooting at 4k 120 fps but davinci only provides me 3 options and the max is 30. Do you know why I can't get 120 fps?
@TheBestShowman

I'm not sure if I understood your question but no matter at which framerate you shoot, DJI will always produces the smallest companion files and max 30 fps. This does not work in Davinci. In this case you cannot use the files as proxies but you need to have Davinci converting these files for you.

@@TheBestShowman so I wonder why the dji let me shoot at 4k and 120 fps if I can't get 120 fps as an output. This doesnt make sense right? Thank you so much
@TheBestShowman
25 күн бұрын
@@atknslcn The original file is 120 fps if you shot it that way. Of course you can use the original file with those 120 fps. Filming at 120 fps doesnt make the video any better, it only means that you can slow it down smoothly to 200% if your timeline is 60 fps or 400% on a 30 fps timeline. But all this has absolutey nothing to do with the .lrf files. That's a whole other story.

Davinci still cant recognise the files. I tried naming them mp4 and mov and it can't find them. If I generate proxy media it creates a .mov file in the same folder as my proxies and that works fine. Any ideas? The generated proxy media .mov works but my lrf files in .mov format does not. Thanks for any help

Check if the .lrf files have the same framerate than the originals. If the framerate is different, it doesn't work.

Thanks, you're right, the LRF files have a 29.970 Framerate instead. Original is 59.940. Why is that? Does that make them totally unusable? This is with a DJI osmo action 3. I heard these files are for the DJI app to transfer and cut in the mobile app. Is that all they can be used for? Thanks for your help!@@TheBestShowman

@@malmbeckjohan These .lrf are just smaller files intended to be used for faster editing. So DJI is making them as small as possible. DaVinci Resolve wants proxy files that have the same framerate as the original in order to be able to work with them. That's why it doesn't work if you record with 60FPS. Every other setting (30, 25 etc.) works fine.

So I change my files to from lrf to mp4, but when I load them into Davinci resolve the lrf are still choppy. My machine is an older 2012 MacBook Pro , however CapCut does not struggle to handle the lrf-mp4 files , however it does not have the feature to mark as proxy or select an original source (the 4k quality mp4) So how do I get my lrf files to smoothly playback in davinci and how do I reference the actual HD files I would like to clip/cut/edit

@@TheBestShowman How do you change frame rates and what suggestions do you have to set it at
@TheBestShowman
11 ай бұрын
@@JDeossa - Where do I start? This is a tough one. If you record in 60FPS or higher, DJI will always create small companion lrf files shrinking the resolution as well as the framerate. If the original Video is 60 FPS, the lrf is going to be only 30 FPS. There is no workaround for this. In this case the lrf files are useless. In this case you really need to create new proxy files via Davinci Resolve. The choppy playback is a Davinci issue but it shouldn't happen with the proxy files. I have no idea how to help you out with this problem.

@@TheBestShowman are you on discord or email ? Would love to chat more. 3 part question, How do I verify the Lrf are useless ? (wrong frame rate) is there a setting on the drone to change the setting lrf are recorded at? Lastly, if the LRF are totally useless what is the best/fastest settings for proxy generation that doesn’t take a very long time?

What are the LRF files for?
@DTStudiosMC
Жыл бұрын
LRF stands for Low Resolution File. They are for editing videos. Essentially, to make editing smoother and faster, you edit the video using the Low Resolution File. Then during the export prosses, it automatically switches it out for the full size file. I hope that helps;)

Depending on your video editing software, you have to create new proxy files. These .lrf files are useless for editing in this case.

@@Traveltoexplore675 I have no experience with Mac. It should work with the 4K30 but probably not with 50fps, since i think in this case DJI records the companion files in standard 25fps.
