You are a GENIUS!!! I started to become discouraged with my basement ceiling but you definitely gave me an idea with this. Thank you 🙏🏾

Nice video. I’m planning something similar. In your design, you don’t have 2x4 “joists” going perpendicular to your main spans. Do you find that the 1x6 is strong enough unsupported to not sag in that direction? I was going to build a full 2x4 grid, but if your method works, then not adding the cross direction will save a lot of time.

I tried a couple methods, toenailing with a nailgun, 4.5 inch screws through the bottom, but the easiest was just 3 inch screw angled from the side.

I was thinking of using 5/8" drywall for the panels, but maybe thinner is better - any thoughts, Fred?

In regards to your floating drywall panels, what size square did you cut them to?

Depends on the grid size but I wanted at least an inch or 2 of overlap. Also wanted them to be less than 4 ft so I wouldn't waste a lot of drywall. It ended up being like 3.3 ft by 3.5ft.

@@Fred-te4kf did you have any issues with the drywall panels sagging or is this method keeping them from sagging?
