Want to upgrade your skating turns? Well, today coach Devinder will help you learn bracket turns. These are similar to three turns, but the turn action happens in the opposite direction of three turns. Be careful! Although these turns are very similar to the fairly easy three turn, bracket turns are a lot tougher to master and can easily cause you to catch an edge or a toe-pick and fall... usually in a very uncomfortable fashion! Be very mindful when practicing these that you are always on an edge and focusing on your weight distribution and shift before, during, and after the turn. Just like three turns, there are 8 bracket turns to master (RFO-right forward outside, LFO-left forward outside, RFI-right forward inside, LFI left forward inside, RBO-right backward outside, LBO-left backward outside, RBI-right backward inside, LBI-left backward inside).
Have fun practicing those brackets! They are a fabulous turn to add to your skating repertoire!
Happy skating!
