Bout to do it in my Dad's 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente. It has a 302 with the mustang rear end on it! I can't frigging wait! Thanks for teaching me how to do the burn out! My car is FWD but its handbrake is only wired to the rear wheels. If I just hold the hand break I can do a fat burnout easily and if I relocate the handbreak in the future and get the RWD setup done I could easily setup the car to drift and do some fat skids.

@@bermchasin some cars handbrake is just a set of rear drums while the foot pedal controls disks on front and rear. at least my 1990 lexus is set up that way. so while they lock the rears easily, the front arent affected

I'm 45 year's old and ya taught me how to do a burn out in my 61 Chevy truck. I'll probably have too start out in 3rd gear. I think.because 1st don't go past 15mph. And I normally start out in 2nd. Wish me luck.

If you don't have the torque of a v8 you can start off in 1st and do a really quick change to 2nd, its a bit more tricky though.

Yes sir, you most definitely can. It’s actually easier to get the tires spinning in first, but the RPMs are easier to manage in 2nd. But either one will work just fine 🙂

Good question. 1st is definitely better in most situations. With this specific setup & hp combo, 2nd is just much easier to keep the RPMs exactly where you want them.

You were correct bro, but it mostly applies the brakes to the front. And not so much to the rear.

Correct. But it’s actually a slow takeoff due to the spinning. So the car will still be under your control.

The only thing that bothers me about this is starting in 2nd gear. At the same time if you have your rpms that high it shouldn't be an issue should it? I've done a couple in my ls3 swapped c5 but they are in first gear and it feels like I'm redlining too fast..

That's probably why you do it in 2nd. You're hitting your redline sooner. Also, you can start off regularly in 2nd if your clutch control is smooth, so it makes sense that a burnout can work in 2nd gear.

Yes, unfortunately it does, so I wouldn’t do this too often. Some newer vehicles come with a line-lock setting which saves your rear breaks during burnouts.

@@Rat_Smacker95 that really just depends on the tire specs. An all season tire will break lose with far less RPM. But if you’re on a sticky summer tire or drag radials, yeah you’ll need around 5K I’m guessing.

Good question, it will definitely do that if the clutch isn’t fully pressed to the floor. If pressed in completely, it won’t burn it, then dump the clutch. You’ll have no issues. But the brakes will take a beating unfortunately.

Yes, that is correct. Or if the clutch is already bad, it will still slip during a burnout and cause more wear. But that’s usually not the case.

My last car (2013 mustang v6) had the ebrake in the center and it had a convenient release, so I could use it as a hill assist, but I'm struggling to do that on the challenger because of the awkward ebrake placement--not sure why they decided to use an ebrake that requires your feet to engage on a manual car, where your feet are already oversubscribed. Do you just trust the hill assist? Or are you heel-toeing to hit the brake and gas.

I need to try this. Nobody ever told me feather before coming off the clutch. They just tell my dump the clutch. I usually do it work line lock but that only last like 2 seconds because of red lining n line lock doesn't allow u to feather

As long as your keeping RPM's high enough to not stall, but not high enough to be bouncing on limiter you're fine. On something with less than 300hp, your rpms will be up there. Anywhere from 4-6k depending on your redline.
