It does vary race to race but you are never guaranteed a swimming warm up in the pool or open water. If it is very cold, you probably don’t want to get wet beforehand either.
However this doesn’t mean you just rock up to the start and expect your body to be ready to race without a warm up.
We’ve got a routine that you can use before a race but can also be used as a warm up before a training session to optimise your actual time in the water.
