Great video! At 2:30 you say that you have a fall factor of 1 but that doesn't consider the semi-static rope above you. So isn't your fall factor actually still below 1?

Yes you are absolutely right about that. However for some reason a lot of rope access people tend to consider that knot the anchor point. And if you clip in we don’t want to be above our anchor point. So a FF1 in relation to the butterfly. In reality your statement is correct. FF= fall distance/rope length. Here it would have been something like FF 0,25.

How about using a clove hitch instead of the butterfly? It could be easier to adjust?

Great solution. Arguably better and actually the way I was taught many moons ago hahaha. However in IRATA the Clove Hitch is not taught anymore. We like our knots to stay in the rope without a biner in it. Personally it is what I would do in real life. Especially because you can move it along the rope as you ascend

I did not see a clove hitch in this video? All he tied was a butterfly knot, unless I missed something. Jim H.
