If you're adventurous enough, you should check out the food scene in Changi village, right next to the airport, it's got a small tropical beach village vibe. The hawker center there has a lot of the local favorites, Oh and Katong's Roxy Square has the best Laksa.

i find east coast hawker satay better. i have tried both. not too sure about Chomp Chomp at serangoon. i agree as a Singapore Chinese that Many traveler seems to forgot that there are Malay cuisine along with Peranakan. even though they are as big a part of the Singapore food scene. while i am grateful they promote Singapore. it be great to show that Singapore is more than just Laksa/Chicken Rice/Satay.

I absolutely LOVE Malay food and will make sure to eat more dishes next time I go. It was my first time to Singapore so I wanted to hit up all the must eats. Nasi Lemak was on my list but I didn't have time. I did try to feature a couple Malay dishes - Laksa & Satay. Next time I'm in Singapore will seek out more Malay and Indian dishes (drooling just thinking about it)! 🤤

I have to admit that I got turned off by the video once it started sounding like a commercial for Conrad hotels. Unfortunately after that I started to distrust everything Sophie said. What ever happened to avoiding bias and honesty when giving travel recommendations? I remember reading about how publishers like National Geographic will not let their writers, photographers, and videographers receive any compensation, gifts, or perks from companies or organizations mentioned in their stories.
@SophiesTravelSecrets
Жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, I’m sorry you feel that way but where I stayed, everything I ate and everywhere I went was all my choice. I don’t include anything in my videos that I wouldn’t honestly recommend myself. I’m very selective with the hotels I partner with to ensure brand alignment on both sides. I want to recommend great properties to my viewers. I spend a lot of time researching destinations including what to eat & where to get it. Those are genuine reactions to what I’m eating; would be hard to hide that lol. Please feel free to cross reference the places I went with reviews online, travel guides & food blogs. I hope you have a chance to Singapore one day if you haven’t already! The food is phenomenal.

When you order chicken rice you can tell them to have it boneless, this helps with the neatness of eating the dish and you can focus more on conversation rather than picking the bones from the chicken. You can also pick steam or roasted chicken which I would say is a 60/40 preference in favour of roasted chicken in Singapore
