I like your approach and it is true, a lot of people think that just because you sub a guy on video (whether easily or not) they must be a lower belt. - In regards to why older upper belts let them work so long is because they are tired or trying to avoid hitting that wall that younger guys are not aware of yet. I'll tell you the truth if no one else will. I try to preserve energy. I am a 50 year old Brown Belt. I will allow a lower belt get into a position I think I can defend pretty easily or want to work from if needed. However, when they can't get it, I don't feel good about it. Neither of us are improving. However, I will usually try to show them what to do after a roll. Not during it though, because they will think that they had you and you started coaching them because you were in a bad situation. Non stop action leads to burnout regardless of conditioning and I just refuse to go all out during a round unless it is a competition or called for special training.

I believe it’s just this white belt personally because we have white belts at Cobrinha SB know pretty much every basic sub. But to be fair idk how long he’s been training if it’s over 3 months of consistent attendance this shouldn’t occur whatsoever

Thats kinda pitiful, honestly. You give someone the most compromising position, and they still can't take advantage of it.
