Jola and FK don't know what they have just done for people with this exercise. It's basically free therapy and it is going to help so many of us be kinder to ourselves. We're so lucky to have you guys ❤ Both parts of the episode were so great and Harmony was a fantastic guest. Loved the vulnerability and honesty throughout.

My relationship with God is so weird. You hear all the time what sin does to your relationship with God and you internalize it. Its like i am trying to be in my best behavior so God doesn't ignore my prayers or refuse to bless me. Then there are things the church judges you for. Once youre celibate and you don't engage in premarital sex, youre saved. But if you party, drink, dance to secular music. You can’t really be vocal about your love for God. So you're constantly oscillating between extremes, either you've not succumed to modest to grave debauchery or you can't remember the last time you prayed before getting to bed. And you cant ask God for anything cos you feel like you sinned against him and youre angering him. And on and on it goes. And you're pissed at Him when things don't go right, then you feel guilty because you should be grateful your life isn’t that bad. And you think of the times when it will be hard to sleep or breathe. Because you know it will come soon and this is the calm before the storm and life will happen again and anxiety will pound in your chest and burn tears behind your eyelids. Just like that the 5 and 4 you scored your mental and spiritual state, dwindles down to 1 and 2. Mid year review went well....

Went through the comments and yours really stood out to me. First of all, I'm happy that you are at least aware of the place you are and have something of a longing for where you want to be. It might interest you to know that the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart. Now about the sex, partying, and drinking; I'd encourage you to not focus on that for now and focus on asking God to help you love Him properly. Think of it like a romantic relationship, if you love your partner unconditionally, you'll naturally want to do what they like, just to make them happy. The other things you mentioned are external fruits of an internal heart posture. If we're so focused on crossing a checklist of religious activities, we will tire ourselves out (looks like you're at that point already). However, don't be afraid to be vulnerable with God and say "God, I really don't like how my relationship with you is right now. I have a lot of unanswered questions. I don't know what to do, I don't know how to love you the way I ought to. But I'm willing to learn, please teach me". A prayer said in humility like that tugs at the Father's heart. And He will help you, He's earnestly longing to hear your voice asking for His help. I hope this helps :), with love from a fellow imperfect Christian.

@@tosinjones5183 you see this is a very good (Christian) reply, and I think that's the issue. I know these things. And it proofs that there's really no middle ground or else you're fine being lukewarm. It's one thing to want to be a better human being, to be kinder and forgiving and helping. It's another thing to feel like even if you do all these things but you drink and party, then you're not a Christian. As long as it's a fact then you will never be at peace. So personally you're being better, but in the eyes of the church you're still lost.

As someone who is struggling and has struggled with faith, I feel this. These days, I just cling to the knowledge that Jesus died for my past and future sins as I try to figure out this "walk with God" thing. Also, I think God is very aware of our ability to fall fail and even not naturally want to live per Bible standard. Not to sound Christianese but "a righteous man falls seven times" was there for a reason. All in all, my prayer for myself and everyone struggling to be a real christian is that we throw away the expectations of the church and somehow find rest in God cos lowkey, it is those expectations that draw us back.
@tosinjones5183

@@Afyemy darling the “eyes of the church” doesn’t matter in this oh. Even the church that we all try to please is very imperfect and you’d be shocked what people do behind closed doors. It’s actually somewhat funny. Somehow people forget to give people grace, the grace that they ask God for on a daily. Do all you can to make sure that you’re pleasing God. When you fall, as we all do, get back up. Jesus has gone ahead of us to atone for all our past and present wrongs, hold on to that fact. There’s now no condemnation for those who are in Christ 🤗

FK: About the scripture thing. Did you know that some scriptures in the Old Testament were referenced in the New Testament? Jesus, Paul, etc quoted some scripture from the old testament in the New Testament. E.g you can find Luke 4:18 in Isaiah 61:1 so many others. Secondly I feel so sad that you’ve had some unpleasant experiences that’s made you guys not to be in a good place spiritually, but c’mon there’s more to Jesus than bad experiences. I think you should be open to the love of the Father, fellowship with the HolySpirit, through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you don’t believe anything else please believe this: that God loves you Jola me FK more than you both know. ❤❤❤
