Honestly i can't thank you enough for this video. I'm going to university in three days and I have never used a public washing machine before (only used machine at home) and had no idea what to expect from a laundromat.

Laundromat machines are intentionally designed to be simple to use, more so than a home machine. If you can read and follow simple instructions you will be fine.

Thank you for making this video! I'm used to either having my own washer and dryer or Laundromats that use cards. I just moved into an older building that requires coins. I was terrified that I'd jam up the machine and everyone would hate me lol. I was too embarrassed to ask someone in the building how to do it 😅 God bless!!

Getting change is always the most annoying part IMO. We go to a laundromat in nyc that has a card that you can use, which is rare in NYC but it make life so much better!

I’d say just bring your own detergent, bleach, softener, sheets. so you don’t overpay on a small bottle of Tide sold by the laundromat.

One of their machines took my quarters, so I came back on a Saturday and dumped in a bag of Quickrete and let it go through all cycles. I wish I could have been there to see set up in the washer. I still crack up everytime I think of it.

Do you have to sit there and wait? Or is it just fine to leave and come back after about 15-30 minutes? I just want to know because I'm moving soon to a city by myself for my job after finishing college. I grew up with a laundry machine in our home and I have not used any laundromat service in my entire life, sorry for my ignorance.

You sit there and you wait for your clothes to be wash. Never leave your clothes unattended at a Laundromat.

I didn't know, laundromat uses a credit card. When did they start doing that?
@micmac99

Many laundromats, I know a lot of the ones here in Arizona are going to this, they require a stored value card which you must periodically refill. The cards are dispensed from a machine usually near the front door.

I can't speak for NYC but many laundromats in Arizona and Texas provide free wifi so you can get online with your smartphone or laptop.
