I was raised on free weights and used free weights when I was on the weightlifting team in college, but actually now I like machine weights better. BTW, narrow arms on the bench press work the triceps more and wide arms work the chest more.

Nice video bro, really informative. Just had a question can you still achieve the same gains using a smith machine in comparison to standard bench press?
@eatcheesekobe

if you're pushing the same amount of weight then yes; the only advantage with traditional bench press is it also forces you to balance the bar

how did u miss the most important thing about an angled smith machine? the orientation matters so much

Yes that’s what I was looking at, and I think he did was correct, bar should come closer when bench press and incline bench . And for decline opposite because you have to push.

Why is it that I can lift 275 in normal bench but in smith I can only do like 150 😐 I did kinda embarrassed myself cuz I can’t set it up right omg
@Coffeendonuts

Play around with the set up with no weight. If your smith machine is vertical and not at a slight angle you may need to prop a plate under your bench to adjust it more to an angle like a real bench press as straight up and down can create shoulder impingement or you will be pressing in a non ideal position

Why pref for slanted smith? Better for bench? Tried it first time today and I was always slightly off body position. 😜 Was cool though, it was a slanted like yours. Hardest part is using heavy weight and unpacking. Twisting wrist motion takes momentum away. Thanks for the video (wish I could afford my own Smith) What brand is yours?

@@numinumful3815 Some Smith machines have safety stops. But the USER has to set the safety stops in the proper position. But there is no magical "security mechanism" that senses the weight dropping too fast and stops it. You completely made that up.

I see that the track is angled does this make a difference for bar path when benching. I use a smith machine at local gym and i just now noticed, after a year, that the track bar is angled. I face the oposite of the way you are in your video bench is turnws around the other way

is this serious? Dude cant even setup the f machine. Wrong way dude. There should be ur legs where ur head is.. This sht cant be f serious xD xD Please nobody do this like he shows. You should unrack the bar by flexing ur wrist. Thats how u know which way to lay down or stand when squating. This way is unsafe and it was not meant to be used this way
