I've been dashing for 1 month. Watched the tips for DD everywhere. All good info..great info. Keep in mind that DD has multiple ways to handle every scenario AND get what they want out of drivers in ANY market..saturated or not. THERE IS ONE THING WE CAN ALL DO TO IMPROVE ALL OUR PAY MODELS. Take a pause/break when you see the shit orders start arriving. Take at least twenty minutes. SAVE YOUR GAS. As soon as DD sees drivers dropping off their grids...they have to scramble. This mean they will have less drivers to throw miniscule orders at. Which in turn means they will have to instantly upgrade those shit runs by adding more dollars to get them completed. I've tested this model and it works like a charm. THIS IS THE WAY. Use the pause. This way your acceptance rate is 🔐 down. This way you save ⛽. This way you make more 💸 per active hours. This way you smile at the end of your shift. COPY AND PASTE THIS EVERYWHERE.

Only time I make an exception now, having been doing this for a bit now, is end of shift and the order is headed towards home. Might as well be paid to go that way.

I’ve done about 2000 orders. A tip I would give is to be really read the customer instructions. Many people do not want you to knock or ring doorbell and will be upset if you do. Probably dogs and sleeping babies. I never knock unless they ask me to. Also the tip about the door is great. I never thought about that before. A door that goes out may tip over a drink. As long as you aren’t doing orders past 9 or 10pm you don’t have much to worry about. First dash is tomorrow...only schedule available in the area is 7:30am - 11:00pm. Glad you mentioned the fact that I can end shift early as I did not want to work 16 hours. I'm an older, retired dasher and not exactly a wiz with computers, phones and apps. This was very helpful. Just a little nervous until the details become second nature. Also, I noticed that the other night I was looking at the app and it posted a promo offering $3.00 extra per hour for a 4 hour shift that night. I assume that's an indication that it's a good area to work in. Am I making the wrong assumption? I'm Tom and my base is Luray, Va. Thanks for the info!
@ZachDrivesFast
Жыл бұрын
Hey Tom! I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park. Different areas have different bonuses, but you may be talking about peak pay. If it is peak pay, it would be +$3 per order, not per hour. If it is peak pay, something to keep in mind is that peak pay of $3.00 will be baked into the price that they show you on the offer screen. Having said that, I do hear about promotions in other areas that I don't personally see in my market. Sometimes when a market hadspeak pay, it gets really slow as more drivers are out trying to earn a little extra. Having said that, there are plenty of markets that almost always have peak pay because the demand is higher than the supply of drivers. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to reach out! Best of luck, Tom!

@@ZachDrivesFast I was thinking of positioning myself so that I might be able to pick up orders in the town where I live and a few more towns close by in addition to Luray...which is much larger, but pretty close. They show Luray as the closest to me with higher demand. If I don't get orders outside of Luray, I could then position myself in the middle of Luray. Is that something they frown upon?...I basically just want to feel out the areas...
@ZachDrivesFast

Give it a shot. My best advice is, give it a shot and if it doesn’t play out well, adjust as needed! There’s no hard in jumping between areas. The one thing to be careful of though is that your dash could end if you’re in a different zone than the one you started in.

Thank you sir, I am a brand-new dasher in the South Jacksonville, FLA metro area. This tutorial was very helpful! As a side note, I had a very frustrating problem with background screening via Uber Eats. After having made 700-plus deliveries with a 95% positive rating during the past year, Uber and Checkr kept bouncing me back and forth between companies. Even though I have a clean record and have used the same social for decades, they claimed my screening could not be processed. For this reason and the poor customer support service received from the two companies, I have switched to being a Dasher.

Another great video, Zach. Now, if I could only see the hidden tips on DD before accepting the request, I can truly dominate Door Dash!!!!

Hey Mateo! Thanks for the kind words! After I respond to a few comments, I'm going to start editing the same video, but for Uber Eats! It used to be that you could use Para to see hidden tips. DoorDash has been working overtime to break Para though and it's been "down" for doordash for a while. My best piece of advice is, if the order amount they show isn't enough to make you accept it, it's probably best to not accept it. I had this very cenerio happen to me yesterday... MASSIVE pizza order. 27 items between pizzas and large Salads. The order cost the customer over $400.00 and I got a 1.25% tip out of it. Having said that... Because it was off hours on Wednesday, I accepted the order that showed me $12.00 and change and that's exactly what I got paid. They only left a $5.00 tip... If I had accepted that order only because I expected a hidden tip, I would have been really disappointed. Any who... I agree with you though... It would be epic to know the exact amount of the order and not be forced to guess. I hope you're well!

Thank you for the video. I am new to DoorDash. I signed up three days ago and still have not done my first delivery. I am an extreme introvert that needs a job. Ha ha. Again, thank you for the video…. today is the day to DoorDash my first time. My area is Alabama.

I use that message icon for every order. Once I take the picture and close it out, I message the customer to let them know that their order is there, thank them for the tip and have a great day.

Hey Shiana! Ash was telling me that your guy's DD app is slightly different from ours. I'm almost positive I wouldn't be able to message the customer like that here, after the order is delivered. Having said that, I'll have to give it a try! I love the personal touch you add! ihyw
@gigworkmama

@@ZachDrivesFast it is diff but I believe it works. So when you send the picture to the customer, it creates a chat. You would click on the message icon immediately after and can send the message then. But it goes away after a bit. Before, we could type a message where we take the picture. It was so much easier to give that added touch.

Here some tips I have: 1. Don't get discouraged when things are slow or you're not making a ton. It's a lot like fishing and most of it is out of the driver's control. Those UE/DD videos with giant orders/tips in the thumbnail are all clickbait. 2. Don't beat yourself up if you make a mistake; we're all human. I once accidentally delivered the wrong order and I have a 95% on UE and a 4.91 on DD. Just learn from the mistakes and keep moving forward. 3. Relax. It's an easy way to make money and you don't have a boss breathing down your neck. The more relaxed you are, the better you will be at this.

Great helpful video. 2 questions. Why did you not take the $8 McDonalds order? And how do you know which places are drive through pickup only vs able to walk in and grab it? Does the app tell you or just personnel experience? Thank you for your video.

when you arrive at establishments it directs to wait in curbside pick up or to go inside or drive thru as well walmarts have pick up areas for package delivery

Most places after they close the inside are drive up, some stores are drive up all the time you get to know the fast food delivery in or out to pick up once you’re familiar with the area

Very informative video! I read you can write 58 cents per mile off on your taxes while doing DoorDash, Does the app track your miles for you for tax purposes or do you have to keep track of it manually?
@ZachDrivesFast
Жыл бұрын
You’re correct. And that mileage deduction is a life saver. DoorDash will NOT track mileage for you. The two most popular mileage trackers are gridwise and stride. I personally use stride. I hope this helps!

Did you mention anything about taxes? Logging miles from the point your start DD until you end it? Keep receipts for any business related expenses? Phone holder, phone charger, that trip milage to the store to buy said items? I didn't watch this video as I've watched too many and none actually tell new dashers the most important stuff they should know. 1. Log all miles driven for DD. 2. Keep receipts for all expenses (talk to a cpa or do research on what qualifies as business expense for gig economy drivers) 3. Acceptance rate means nothing. Don't accept orders that's $3.50 to drive 9 miles 1 way. (Auto decline no tip orders. Youll know theres no tip when you figure out your markets base pay. Mine is $2.25 so if it says $2.25 i decline no matter what, even if its right next door. Chances are youre going to be waiting 5-15 minutes for that order.) Set a goal and if it's achievable in your market, improve on it or stick to it. I only accept orders that's $2/mile with some annotations. If it's around 8-10 miles I'll accept $15 if it's a slow period.

You forgot a very important thing! I started dashing literally yesterday and didn't know you have to be dashing for 2 weeks and have to have completed 25 orders to even be able to use fast pay! Then they make you wait 7 days if you add a new card. Very important for anyone just starting.

By the way Zack, your video was great. I liked and subscribed. As I said, just brand new to this, and I found the app really frustrating. I clicked on things and it wouldn't go through like order completed. It was frustrating because already caused an issue for me. Driving in So Cal...thank you Zack. PS I have a question for you that I can't find an answer to. On the Doordash Direct App Virtual at this point, how do I transfer money to get it to ATM where I can withdraw it...or to Google Pay. Desperately need to get ⛽️ gas, but i dont know how. I see "move money" lists my amount of $$, but then says "Goal" I believe. I dont understand how to use.
