When i saw this video I was like "no way I could draw like this".But after 3,5 hours of trying and erasing I did it and I was very happy about it. After that I kept drawing and drawing it and I got really good at it.Thank you Mark , you are the best, really helpful video. And great dragon head design btw.

Hello Mark. I just want to say thank you so much. 4-3 years ago, back when I couldn't draw, didn't have good drawing skills, and wanted to draw anime and be a good artist, I found your account. I thought I couldn't do half the stuff you do. I gave up a few times, but managed to come back and practiced day in day out to learn from your videos to draw better. Now, I've been making manga for about 2 years, have MUCH better art skills than I EVER would have imaged, and it's all thanks to you. I even use your mastering manga book still. Thank you so much for you videos. Your the reason why I am who I am today. Keep on motivating young artists, and keep changing lives, Mark. Thank you so much :)

I am amazed how your art goes from just simple lines to three dimensional realism. So many techniques rolled into one piece. It is giving me a lot to work with. I am looking forward to trying the techniques. I had my Chinese Water Dragon pass away last Thursday after eight years, and eventually, I want to draw him from the photographs I have of him. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such beautiful works for us to learn from. Blessed Be!

Hey Mr. Crilley. I just wanted to say thank you for doing the videos you do. I'm am 33 and loved drawing as a kid and teenager. With adult life stepping in I pretty much hadn't drawn in years. When I found your videos it sparked something in me to start drawing again and really take it seriously as an adult. I'm taking classes in my spare time and it's really given me something to concentrate and practice on that isn't work. Haha. So thank you! Very much appreciated!

Five years ago I watched this. I drew what you drew, I followed your steps, and it came out looking almost exactly how you drew it. I know for a fact that if I looked back on that drawing, I would see mistakes. (I lost the paper I drew it on like..3 or 4 years ago. Oof.) And now I want to draw it again, this time better, cause now I know what I'm doing. I was like..seven when I drew this. I never noticed how talented I actually am TvT seven and I drawing THIS. I stopped drawing for a couple years- now im back into it. Heh. Imma give this another try. I had faith when I was 7 And I lost it when I was 9. I have it again, finding reminded me of how bright I was when I kid. (Still am but I count as a pre-teen-) I lost that light two years ago, and this, really reminded how much talent I really have. Amazing, really brought back alot of memories. I'm going to draw this again, and I'm going to do it better than what is was before. Restored my faith, Thankyou, Mark.

I told my friends and they were like I WANT TO MEET HIM!!! Thanks a lot for this video, I could draw the same dragon from a skyrim with watercolor pencils, and he seems to me looks even better than on video. Also at me it has turned out to extend to him a neck, having kept at the same time all proportions and also I left him narrower pupil which to him goes better. Also I have drawn behind him a steel emblem of a skyrim and the background has made black, it has turned out extremely abruptly. Thanks to this video I for the first time could draw a dragon normally.

markcrilley Horns, spikes and ridges on lizards and some amphibians are not merely decorative, they're typically used as some sort of defence - either as some form of aggressive display to look bigger and meaner or in the case of say crocodiles, their scutes along their back and tail act like armour. Same principle as studded armour. So, in the case of those spikes on the jaw, in theory they could protect the neck.

Hey Mark, could you consider making a video and teach about ways to hold and control the pencil and elaborate on the hows and whens? Personally I'm also having a slight issue with consistency when I'm shading; if you do, could you offer any tips? In either way - thank you ^^ you're awesome.

You are really helping and inspiring me! I'm always a step further than everyone when I'm in class and we are drawing pictures. I'm thinking of buying your mastering manga books cuz I just love manga ^_^ It's just one only thing. I also want to program games, but I think that can wait for later. I'm only 13. Thanks a lot from Sweden ;) Oh and a question! I can buy tithe books from amazon right? Yeah I think that stood in the description...

Hi Mark, I have been watching many of your videos for many years and I wanted to thank you! My art skills have been improved dramatically and I was recently accepted into a wonderful high school for art!! But one of my friends recently asked me to draw a colored pencil drawing of her black Labrador who died a few years ago. I have never drawn a Labrador before and have no idea where to start! If you have any video tutorial recommendations to help me that would be great!! Thanks a lot!!!

Classic Crilley video. You can talk and do amazing technical illustrations at the same time! Sometimes with jokes "gouachies....?" :0)

Ordered your your Manga book last night on Amazon UK, Mark. I'm from Glasgow. I have no idea what Manga is & never seen any of the cartoons, but if I'm going to learn from your book, I'll happily buy it as I'm a complete beginner. I'll look forward to that being delivered this week. I was looking for a new hobby anyway, I might have just found a new hobby now I enjoy.

I have been drawing since the day I could hold a pencil...And let me tell you this you are one of the best teachers I could ever dream of :) Something about you and your drawings and videos makes me push myself to a higher level, and focus on my shading/sketching skills. Thank you so much for sharing your technique and tutorials

Hey Mark, is there really a preference on using a mechanical pencil or a wooden pencil? I haven't tried using wood pencils, I was curious if it affects the drawing. Also I love your work! :)
