I like my forms solid so I always first construct manequin from simplified forms and then go into more complex organic forms over them, but this technique you showed feels more free flow and natural, I feel like I am actualy doing construction wrong 😭

There is no wrong approach to this, but maybe you can try this technique and see if it works for you.

my problem isn't really that, it's that i LITERALLY can NOT draw from refrence (assuming i can draw to begin with) till not i only learned the head shape and a couple of prespectives for it, incapable of choosing how the head ends up looking (if it's the same person/different/how unique each head it) but sure i'm just starting yet when i try to draw from refrence i have to ommit everything i learned and just copy as much as i can, if i try to get more involved and plan out more it turns out bad, and even when i don't it's a 90-10 or so, as well as not even being able to do either in any more detailed picture (a real face and most drawings) idk where to go from here or how to use refrences or improve with them, it feels like i'm stuck to a wall, if you ever read this please give me advice about where to go from here and how to use refrences my personal goal: get good enough at drawing people that i get motivated and feel like i can do it, then i start learning more general things and overall drawing, not really getting that great but just good (slightly lower to the average of a comic book/manga level) and then if i may try to improve more but it's not really something i currently have any care about current goal: just get good at heads, then i can go body, then arms and legs

I mean that's not exactly referencing that's copying. When properly referencing you take a multitude of images to create something different. This is why the art community has the wrong idea about what referencing is because many others don't even know, so they miseducate. Yes study use it as a tool, but don't copy unless it's to learn.
@LucasPeinador
Жыл бұрын
People need to use reference. It is really important for every artist, especially when they are starting to have references. And the amount of references that they have doesn't matter. As long as they are drawing, improving and loving what they are doing - there is nothing wrong with it.
@hazelkupkakess7842

tracing is overlaying a picture and literally tracing over it, referencing is looking at a picture and drawing what you see without tracing it 💀
@pinkusdean1178

If ya look, he only blocked out the general shapes over the initial img then draw it by eyeballing those shapes after, that's not tracing, technically the initial shapes where traced but those don't make it into the final piece.
