Another thing you can do is make blobs in the general shape of the highlights you want and then erase the ends of them similar to this video. If you use a brush that can change its opacity based on pressure. This will work well.

@@blaze26700 The blur settings are slightly different in the 'filter' mode. And the blur tools outside of 'filter' mode act more like a blurring brush. You also have to manually change the eraser to the one you need, you cant just hold then set it to the same brush as your drawing one. As for the infinite paint question, Idk.

I at times get so frustrated with Procreate because i can make nice sketches but have no idea how to color them in it. To the point I switch from procreate to ibis paint 😂😂. In the long run that's not super helpful but appreciated, I would say look up references and know what direction the light is coming from. Just like the hair is separated into multiple parts it's also on a 3d surface which means that only part of the volume will receive light and the other side will be shaded. Hope that helps someone.

Don't make random pacman bites. It makes the head look bumpy. You gotta follow the hair. This ugly light line destroyed the volume of the head. Better use RL ref and see how light is actually reflected by hair. Try to understand why and recreate the concept, not a visual effect you once saw.

Ngl as an artist myself i don't really like this technique as it completely disregards lightinh direction. Lighting (and thus shine) isn't a detail, it's a phenomena. And so its placement needs to be motivated not by what looks cool, but based on what actually makes physical sense

Using hair shine with perspective of the hair that is wrapping around a curved plane pointing out on parts of the hair that are pointing in (hair beside her neck) betrays the perspective of the hair. I'm not an artist, but it just looks wrong (the copy and pasted ones which are placed in areas that don't apply, not talking about the first one at the top). Also, I believe there also needs to be a bit of stray light with stray hair. And other blending modes could be uses to make the shine effect better.

There is literally a hair brush pen that comes free on proceate where all you have to do is get a lighter colour and used the airbrush pen to draw it on the hair, then set the hair brush as the smudge tool and smudge the colour into the original hair with the brush tool. Not saying what you did is bad just suggesting a quick alternative also your method would be the best for other apps so people who don’t have procreate can do it, sorry if I sound judgmental I’m not trying to be honest I only just realised I sound quite rude sorry
