Your work as a teacher and artist is so good I have paranoid flashes your content may disappear and that I should archive it all now.

I found those hand animations really interesting, really makes you wonder what artists are doing behind the scenes to improve since no one ever shares anything they do besides finished art.

God gave artists two hands so they can draw with one hand while posing the other. :) (If you're really hardcore, try drawing your drawing hand, while you are drawing with it. That's... "fun"). :) Me, I usually start a hand in one of two ways: A) draw a tapering square, then add fingers and thumb, or B) draw a right angle triangle and add a thumb onto the right angle corner, and fingers from one of the other two corners. Hands can be a pain because they have two uses: expression and function. A foot is functional, a face is expressive. Hands do both, so they pull double duty, and are twice as hard to draw (not to mention, you can get crossed wires: there's almost no "friendly" way to draw a hand holding a baseball bat, because it looks like a fist). fwiw; the mitten oval is a great starting point for a relaxed hand from the side, but really not effective for drawing a flat hand with the palm facing the viewer. For that, you gotta start with a not-quite square for the palm, and a pentagon for the fingers (I understand why animators use the mitten hand, but in almost any other context it's a sub par foundation). Re: the pivot point of the wrist... easiest way to find it is to flap your hand up and down a couple times, and pay attention to where creases form. Tilted up or down, the creases will point towards the pivot point, so find the spot where they converge and you'll have your pivot point (otherwise, at the base of the thumb is an indentation between the tendons... right below that is a bump where the radius bone cups the metacarpals... that bump is the pivot point... think of it like the widest point of a "ball," in a "cup and ball" socket). n/e way, good show, many useful pointers. :)

What? You can animate in procreate? 🤯 Man I gotta get that....
@smm855
3 жыл бұрын
Dude Procreate is magical. It's a one time $10 and acts like photoshop. It will even export your file to a .psd file. My favorite part is the fact that you can set vanishing points and select you layer to "assisted" and then you'll only be able to draw toward your vanishing points. Makes perspective so flipping easy
