I’m glad that I started following you because I’ve been drawing for 35 years, but with having family I have slacking and not keeping up with it. So you are helping me go back to the basic I’m glad that made this 101 series because I needed this. Sometimes everyone needs a refresh and what this is for me. I want to thank you for this. I have both paper and iPad Pro 2018. I’m still trying to get the hang of the digital art world.

Thank you so much for making this series. I only started really getting into drawing a few years ago and always felt like my art really sucked. But since I started watching your videos just a few weeks ago, I honestly feel like my art has massively improved. You do such a great job at laying the ground work for why things are the way they are rather than just saying 'this is how to draw this, this is how to draw that' and that really does help me at least understand how to transfer those tools to different drawings. Thank you so much again and I hope this series continues long into the future!

Happy Teacher's Day! Today in Indonesia is teacher's day. So i would like to thank you for helping me to be a cartoonist! I love all your videos and I have practicing a lot while watching your videos! Thank you so much! :)

I am so happy I found your tutorials! I am (not completelly) a beginner at cartoon illustrations, and these "lessons" helped me a lot! Now I can see the bigger picture of everything. For me, the problem is when you say "try not to think about real faces and their dimensions, cause these are cartoon characters", it's difficult cause you have proportions of all your friends (and people you know) in your memory and all are pretty much similar. It's really hard to "think outside the box" in this case. But, i guess it's gonna be better in a few months. Thank you!

I've been learning much more from just watching my favorite cartoons. He only goes over a few different mouths here, and they are very generic. But each cartoon show tends to have a different style.
@thomaskopv2366

no shit, he just shows you how you draw a mouth in general so the proportions and everything else is correct. As said in the title, its cartooning 101. So no advanced tips and tricks here. Drawing is all about having your unique style, you need to find it, but first you need to know the basics before you can do that.

Hi first off I want to say this whole series is fabulous! I have never been a artist but I’m super interested in creating a children’s book these videos have really helped me put together the general ideas I have & im so grateful for that I have a question do you have any mouths with gapped teeth my 8 year old has gapped teeth and that’s who I’m attempting to draw and these mouth don’t really compare to hers

As a style preference for the highlight on the lips if you want a more realistic shine to the lips you can add a highlight to the middle region of the lower lip instead.

Super helpful! Although, I could use a bit more help with those 3/4 view mouths. I would have liked to see a 3/4 closed mouth using the geometric guides. Thought it was worth mentioning in case you end up covering any of these concepts again another time :) Thanks for the lesson!

Great Video. I do use multi- medias, I sometimes start on paper and then scan to computer and layer. I still learning movement flow. My granddaughter says I don't know how to draw light. So I scan and the decrease in opacity and the add details. Yea I know. I always go from point A to point B at an angle. Accept when walking across a parking lot. Thanks again looking forward to the hair video.

Any chance you could do a how to draw mouths with more realistic ones and in lots of different angles? The way you draw the geometrical shapes and then use them as reference for proportions is amazing and I'm learning a lot, thanks!

I am very happy to see your cartoon tutorials. I am a cartoonist drawing cartoons for over 4 decades. Still I watch any interesting cartoon drawing videos. I appreciate all your efforts in explaining each individual detail. Still, I felt one deficiency in your videos. It may be small for you, but, I would like to bring it to your notice. That is you move the screen number of times which is annoying the viewers' concentration. I am sorry to point out the same. If you reduce it, it will be more convenient to watch your videos. Thank you. nagisetty cartoonist, India.

I love your teaching techniques of the drawings. I even recommend our friends to see them. If you do not mind, I would like to suggest one thing. While drawing, you are moving and resizing the frame several times which is somewhat disturbing our concentration. Please reduce it.

I use your advice to make my own version, and it works beautifully. My style is like yours, except I keep the proportions normal. I was planning on, whenever I get the stuff, to make web comics, but for now I'll just draw in meh sketchbook. Am I the only one who fears using advice like this and drawing like a professional, for the irrational reason that someones gonna see it and call me a "Rip-Off"? I don't know why I do because the chances of someone looking at it long enough to recognize it are very slim, and if someone said that then they don't know what it means to be an artist. “Good artists copy, Great artists steal.” -Picasso Also, is that capital "L" at the end of your name an accident, or on purpose? I'm sorry this comment is so long, but after I watched the nose video, I spent a couple hours a day practicing. I only had to use the guidelines a few times, and now all I need are the three circles. Okay, this is it! I'm done! Thanks so much for reading this! Goodbye!

totally great work, but you don't really explain WHY you choose to use certain lines, shapes etc to create mouths and expressions. The best info for learning is the WHY so that when we try it we understand, not just blindly copy a technique. Hope that makes sense. Onward and upward!!
