Love this video, I have struggled with realistic leaves. I will try your way of doing it out. When the weather warms I would love to see you draw from a park bench or some place like that and draw a scene over looking the river with some trees in the foreground. (you would not have to have the city background). I think that would be cool.

Well, what doesn't help is the video quality for this video is not the best. And this is just my method for drawing leaves and do this pretty much for all of my finished drawings. It is usually more polished than this because I spend a lot more time on the actual drawing than I did in the tutorial for times sake. This is also one of the easier ways I have found to draw leaves. I have tried to actually draw each leaf but it just takes so long! haha. But hey, sorry you didn't enjoy it :(

Haha, you are not the first to suggest being an art teacher. That is kinda what I am doing here. I don't think that being an art teacher in a school is the best Idea with all the cut backs they are doing. I think that teaching here on youtube is probably the best way to do it. That way everybody can see it no matter where they live.

I wouldn't draw the tree in first. I would do the sky and clouds first and then erase out where I wanted the tree to be. Then proceed to do pretty much what I did here. Not too much of a difference. but that is just me.

I am in an AP Art class and we have a project we have to do on houses and a tree has to be next to the house. So i followed along in your video did lol my tree came to life. It is the best tree i have ever done so far and I am going to show your video to my art class just in case they are having the same dilema so thank you for sharing your knowledge of drawing :)

Hi, I liked the lesson very much. I often do this for my plein air landscape studies before I do the painting. But now I'm doing a close up of a grafted birch tree that is so cool looking with all it's peeling bark and twisted limbs. So, what I want to do is have just a few leaves coming from a taller branch on top. Because the tree is a close-up the leaves would have to be somewhat large with detail. I'm a bit leary doing this as the branch looks so good I don't want to ruin it!!! can you help? Thank you !
