Your voice and sage wisdom on the topic of whiskey is music to my ears - I'm a beginner in the spirit and your videos are a nice and informative look into this divine drink. I had been drinking whiskey in a open mouthed glass like they do in the movies and now as I write this I'm drinking from a wine glass and I could INSTANTLY notice the concentrated strength of the nose of the spirit by doing so - thank you for your videos, malt mate! I've become a fan of your videos in the relatively recent time since being introduced to Scotch. I learned mostly from watching your videos. I found this intro video to be a great and enjoyable introduction to Scotch for general folks, and this past weekend I showed this video to my full family as a sort of unexpected fun little mini event. Here's the story: I've been having my family over to my house for Football Sundays... we watch the game of our favorite team. I have slowly introduced my family (Dad, Sister, etc...) to my new hobby, Scotch, just letting them know the basics. I had the big screen on with 20 minutes to wait for the big playoff game, and I had an idea... I used my Apple TV, clicked on the KZitem channel, then played this video on the 62 inch plasma in my living room to introduce my family to "Ralfy." Everyone loved your video. They seemed to really appreciate being brought up to speed, but then they really enjoyed and loved your general comments. (We're from planet Vermontopia... a planet where the amount of water we add to Whisky is intricately tied to our primary religion... ha ha.)

I think you have taken the whisky to the religión level. And you are converting people all around the World. I take note of two things. 1) Make it a hobby not a habit. I could never have expressed it so clear and concise. The drum cannot drive you. 2) No frowny. I always say that I drink whisky when I feel in good mood, otherwise it's just a waste of time. You have to be joy to enjoy it. Cheers from Uruguay.

I wanted to take a moment to appreciate this video. I don't have much of a palate to speak of: subtleties of flavor usually escape me. But today, for no particular reason, I decided to open a bottle of (relatively generic, but decent-quality) rye whiskey. These tips of yours really are helpful for enjoying the experience, and for finding flavors and aromas I usually miss. (This rye, for instance, is a bit fruity, and it's not very woody, only being two years old.) Cheers, and good health!

Malt Brother Ralf, you are number 1, I always enjoy your reviews, very accurate and precise. Today I receive some supply of Armenian brandy and Saint Vivant Armagnac that I already knew. However the Armenian brandy is good stuff, very close of Hennessy, Maartell Cognac. Now I am looking to buy some "Kweichow Moutai" from China, once I work for Sinopec a China Oil Co. and everybody was from China and they offer me some, this was on 2004, I have been looking who sells Moutai here in the US, I hope I found. Best introductory video for malts on the internet. I know what I'm linking people to now, when they ask. Oh, and for my American compatriots who probably can't find Bladnoch and probably balk at the price of Springbanks, I recommend Benromach Traditional as a well-priced "all-rounder" to start with. For something lighter, Auchentoshan Classic; for sweeter/fruitier, Glenlivet 12; for drier, Highland Park 12; for peatier, Ardmore Traditional Cask (if you can get it under $40) or Ardbeg 10.
