most of my generation ( baby boomers) of Welsh farming stock learn't to drive on one of these progressing to a 135 which is the same thing on steroids. Age 12 I would frequent a local dealers yard during my school lunch hour ,making a real nuisance of my self trying to buy a ticket up from the many dead T20s in the field beyond the dealers yard. This dealer had switched to International but was taking in Ferguson's from his established customer base fist selling the B250,then the 275 and the B414. I think the poor starting of the FE35 made it an easy choose but by the time the improved ,MF 3 cylinder appeared many had defected but I am sure some returned to the fold as the 35/135 was a far better all round tractor for hill farmers of the time. All though I did'nt know all the Ferguson models ,among the old tractors in that dealers dump field in1964 stood O now realise were :- Ford 9Ns some on steels in Fergusoon Browns, UK T20 continentals, P 3 conversions ,Early fordsons pre 1923, continentals, later prewar fordsons, and other lesser makes from a by gone age. The dealer I think spoke to my uncle and I did not get a £10 fixer up of my own untill1977.

Thanks for this, really helpful. It would be great, maybe in another video, to explain the brakes; in what situations you would use which ones.

Yes it used to be a really slow starter. But this was when I first got this tractor. It had been sat in a barn for 30 years so I had to hot wire ignition to start it. But it’s got loads of new parts now and goes like the wind. But thanks for watching

Can you shift gears? Or is it just a pick one and drive? I bought one early this year, for transport use, thanks
@fazlast

You can do both I believe.
@MrEmiosk

You can, but don't when under load. The gearbox is sturdy but it can't survive hard abuse for long. Preferably try and match the "idle" speed of the next gear before shifting, if you get a heavy jerk as you re-engage the clutch you need to practice a little. But always err on the side of caution. Many have lost limbs and life to the exposed drive train (if all you are going todo is use unpowered wagons and trailers it will be less of an issue). Being kicked off the seat by the clutch acceleration is a risk if it has a standard seat (not a lot of backrest) and you do not have a firm grip on the wheel.

Hello , I got a Ferguson TED 20 , this weekend I have to make a long travel with it (80km). What type of fuel do I need to put in it ? TVO , or just gasoline will work ? Thanks
@fazlast
Жыл бұрын
You mix gasoline/petrol with heating oil but if you are just driving it on the road you could get away with running it on normal petrol but you will need to take the heat shield off.
@edwardmoore2649
Жыл бұрын
@@fazlast why do you need to remove the heat shield when running on petrol?
@fazlast
Жыл бұрын
@@edwardmoore2649 because the engine will over heat. TVO engines were designed to start on petrol till engine is warm then you switch over to TVO because TVO doesn’t get hot enough to start engine that why heat sheild is there to hold the heat. But if u run on petrol there is no need for it and the engine will over heat so it’s better to take off

@@fazlastok thanks for telling me, I’ve got one of these and Ive just managed to drive mine for the first time since 1999. I noticed it was hot this could be the reason why it was getting hot.

Probably. People run these tractors on anything. I’ve seen some run it on old engine oil and diesel. There’s nothing that they can’t handle.
