What a great idea, I have always just used newspaper before, so going to give the rice a try with it. Cheers Alan

Dude! This is a huge help. My job supplied me with boots but they have no air vents and my feet are sweating and I was wondering what to do to dry them out at night. This rice technique is great. I think I will sew up some rice socks. I was wondering what people did in the old days for their wet footwear and Google gave me nothing.......I think this video answered my question so thanks for making it.

Great Idea! I never even thought of waterproofing the Gortex lining like that either. I've always focused on treating the leather.

Hey Nick we would do that in the military many years ago and then sling them in the dry room. They sure do soak up the wet. Very practical. All the best. Mark

Yes Nick way back in the early 80's when Paul and I were doing Parachute Regiment selection. This brought back memories but in all truth I still do it with my leather boots. Old habits! I reckon you're on a journey to find the right footwear for you. It will be interesting to see how your boot odyssey turns out. Take care...Mark

Good old newspaper in a warm airing cupboard, then feed the leather with a good leather conditioner, then polish or dubbing is my way of doing it, every time i come off the hills. Makes those expensive boots last along time.... or just don't fall in water logged holes lol cheers for the vid mate

If you put the rice in a sock and tie a knot it's easier to remove 😊

nice little tip.i suppose you have to use NIK wax lol. i learnt my lesson a few year ago trying to speed up drying times with artificial heat (ie next to radiator ) cracks the leather. always good to have a second pair on standby. i am very very impressed with my leather lined supalite's . never had a damp foot since getting them. i think the rice sometimes works to dry wet phones out.

Can one use a blow drier.? I mean the rice is wasted or you wouldn’t still cook it would you ?

no I wouldn't still cook it. Someone else mentioned putting the rice inside a sock which seems like a good idea. The trouble with blow drying your boots or putting them next to the heater is that it cracks the leather.
