I'd love to dye my white mini bugout at some point and not taking it apart seems almost too good to be true :) have you not had any issues? Feels like it'll be impossible to completely dry it after washing it. Is that not an issue?

I've recently dyed my Endura Zome green,(frn), into total black scales, and I couldn't be happier,.. I was very sceptical as to whether it would be a success, but it's absolutely perfect, !! No disassembling needed, I just suspended it by the blade, (using string) and left it in the dye for around half an hour, and it's absolutely jet black, with no trace of the Zome pattern at all,, I was expecting a little bleed out, when I re-oiled it, but, as I said, it is sheer perfection,, I am so happy,, I was thinking about buying a new knife, as I disliked the pattern on the scales so much... 🗡️😀

If the knife gets wet from being out in the rain, or sweat... does the color run out of the G10? I have a Ruike LD43 rescue tool knife. It was the only swiss army style multitool that I could find with fast one handed opening, a really stabby blade, liner lock to allow one handed opening and closing, pocket clip and a decent assortment of tools that I wanted. The closest I could find with Victorinox was the Locksmith... Love it, except that like all Victorinox knives, the point on the blade is super blunt... It's like those safety scissors that you hand kindergarten kids for arts and crafts. Fine for that, not so much for a knife that I want to pierce things with... The thing I don't like about the Ruike, is the fluorescent yellow G10 handle scales... Would love to die it red or black, or OD Green... Suggestions?

Nope I also dyed my bugout a dark green and it’s held up great for the past weeks haven’t noticed no discoloration it’s really soaked up the dye amazing
@the_Mike_McCoy

Won’t run or bleed the color at all. But you will need to pick a ldarker color that the yellow. Black would work great. I think the OD GREEN MAY AS WELL. The red might be tricky to cover the yellow but just leave it soaking longer

@@the_Mike_McCoy tried navy blue, for two hours... Barely colored the scales at all, and I used the entire bottle of dye, boiled the water with some white vinegar... Left the scales in there for two hours and all it did was make the yellow scales look dirty... Lol

@@SquireSCA I wonder if those are a completely different material than the bugout scales? Someone corrected me and let me. know that the bugout may not be actual G10. that's the only thing I can think that would cause it not to take the dye

Cool I just learned how to dye g10. Thx. My project is safety orange and I want it to be black. I'm wondering if it will come out orange-almost-black orrr like brown or something. I hope I can get it black.

Will the vinegar in the solution acid wash the blade or is it dilute enough to prevent a forced patina?

Hey man!!! Thanks for the vid and effort! I am curious about my knife. I spent $140.00 on a kickass E-Volve Navajo knife. The black scales.... But, they sent me a green one😮. I am not about to go FULL KAREN and send it back and woof it up. So, I will try your method. Also, I dont wanna ruin my warranty by taking it apart, but, IF I PUT THE WHOLE KNIFE under Rit dye, will Only the G-10 scales get affected?
