Very nice video, I love your vibe & work. I am at the moment trying to do something similar with some wild mustard flowers growing in our communal garden. Did you use any tanin for the mordant or only alum?

Amazing video!! Onу question if I may - how do you fixate these colors?

Mordanting helps the dye grab onto the fabric.

@@pheart2381 than you) I'm a crossstitcher and I want to try dyeing my evenweave with natural dyes. So I was wondering about the ways to prolong the colors of the fabric for as much longer time as possible.

Hello, so yes it’s all about the mordanting /pretreatment of the fibers before dyeing. You can use alum for animal fibers and alum acetate for plant fibers … there are other ways but that should get you started 💛

What did you use to mordant?

I used alûm for my silk , alum acetate for the bamboo and a combination of tannin and alum for the cotton socks 💛

So many factors involved in colour fastness but in general they last much better than people think! 😆

Did you keep the leftover water and reuse

Not this time but I watered my plants with it…. You can also make lake pigments with left over dye baths 🌸
