You're a life saver! I'm so glad I came across this video and your channel. I have herniations at L4/L5 pinching my sciatic nerve on the right side. I have pain from top of my right buttock to my big toe. This morning, I could barely stand and walking was excruciating. I'm scheduled for a steroid injection at L4/L5 in a couple weeks and was really concerned that I can't wait that long. The three stretches in your video gave me immediate relief! I believe the last gravity stretch is the game Changer. Thank you for sharing. I can't say thank you enough. Keep up your life changing work.

I have been dealing with sciatica pain for 15 years. these exercises are very similar to what I have already been given but they only give temporary relief. I have had several MRI's but the NHS cannot pinpoint the the cause. It happened while I was bricklaying, I was a a trainee and stupidly picked up a large piece of stone at arm's reach and I felt instant pop in my spine and instant sciatica down my left leg. Outside what I have mentioned all the NHS have done is prescribed multiple different painkillers, I'm on neproxin and pregablin at the moment but don't want to on anything for the rest of my life. Any advise would be hugely appreciated. I have been thoroughly enjoying your channel thus far.

Hi, thanks for making this video. I have prolonged (12 weeks) sciatic symptom reaction from a herniated disc L4-L5 down my left side when standing and walking. I find my best relief is to sit down and then the sciatic reaction goes away in a few minutes and stays away until I stand up again. Would exercise #1 (the beer belly exercise) not be advised as this may put pressure on the pinched area as my usual relief comes from being in the seated position?
@priscillar7389
2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I'm in the same position 9 months out since my herniated disc injury, did you find relief with any of these? How are you doing?
@middobass6766
2 жыл бұрын
@@priscillar7389 Hi there, no I didn’t get any relief (or reply from the authors) to my question or from the exercises suggested. If your issue is like my symptom and you only get relief from a change of position then you’re herniation is probably too far gone, especially if it’s longer than 12 weeks without relief. So after I had an MRI scan and neurosurgeon consult, I elected to have surgery (microdiscectomy). I woke up post surgery and the pain had gone! It’s now 3 months post surgery and still no symptoms, fantastic. I’m walking and standing for as long as I like. I’m not a qualified physician, I’m just giving you my side of the story as a chronic sciatica sufferer. I’ve had a great result so there’s merit (from my experience) to consider this option. It’s also a relatively simple procedure. I hope this helps you and hope you get relief ASAP.

Actually this isnt always the case for sciatica pain. It depends on how the nerve is positioned in each person, mine runs through the gluteus muscle on the right side. My pain is caused by the vertebrae shifting out of place causing the glute muscle to become tight thus pinching the nerve in between the irritated muscle, not the bulging disk pinching it.
@DrRowe

Ive been dealing with pain for 5yrs when i do the side glide this stops pain but as soon as i bend over there is a pop/snap in back and pain comes back. I can also do reverse warrior and get same result. For whatever reason something won't stay in place. Ive explained to my ortho dr and PT but they just seem to ignore it. Any idea? Thanks

Exercise 2: shouldn't you be leaning towards the non painful side? Similar to back extensions where you lean backwards to move the disc forward, curving your spine towards the right if your sciatica is on your right side, the disc would move leftward.

The only way that stops my pain down my right leg from standing too long is sitting

If any movement is causing increased pain and symptoms, there's the possibility that your condition needs a lot more than just conservative care (such as exercises). Consult further with your doctor, they know your condition and can give the best recommendations for care.
