You continue to amaze me. I've made charts like this before, but not with the white separator between groups. Most of my users are amazed enough with separating the groups. EXCELent!

I knew it, I knew it... I KNEW IT!! I knew this type of presentation must have been out there, but after viewing multiple vids this is the only one I found that demo's it!!! Kudos! One additional tip: In 2013 you can select individual sections of the bar graphs and make them custom colors. Thus in this example you could change the entire Budgeted column into hues of green, and the entire Actual column into hues of red. It's a bit of effort but can be quite visually distinctive!

Thanks Exceldashboards - appreciate it! I ask because one of my work colleagues had chided me some months ago for struggling to create graphs in Excel and then copy/paste them over into Word. "Why not just do everything in Word...? It's so much easier?" she laughed. I was mortified. That, and I've noticed that if you copy/paste from Excel to Word, and then send your Word doc, the data may not transfer over making it difficult to edit. Have you found this too/found ways to get around this?

Brendon Matthews Hi Brendon, sorry you are having issues. This same technique will work for 1 to infinity products. I would try 3 things. 1) make sure that your first and second categories are text and not numbers (i.e. Product 1 and Budget) 2) don't have a column header above your categories (i.e. leave it blank above Product 1 and Budget) 3) Switch the Rows/Columns. Go to my blog for a complete step-by-step tutorial if that will help more than the video. Good Luck. Steve=True

Sure, you can do anything to the vertical axis that you would like to do. If you have 2 axes, then you should make similar changes to both axes so that they don't get out of sync.

Hi Rebecca, click on the chart, then click on the axis labels, then click on alignment, then change the text direction, however, when you use multi-level axis, Excel doesn't adjust the direction for all levels, only one, and it is not an option to change all levels. Hope this helps.
