I had this idea, but I'm gonna use construction nails, and weld vice grips to a homemade slide hammer
@PapaDutch

I like that slide puller a lot! I got a stud welder at Harbor Freight, and the slide hammer it came with is really cheaply made and a bit tuff to work with *It has a small wheel in a slot that looks like a lighter flint wheel that grabs the studs. The studs get stuck in it very often...
@ashmargag1

Yea you have to beat the dent the wrong way to get the slide hammer off. Lol

I´m afraid of hammer and dolly. Gimme a stud weld gig any day. Pulling studs and tapping shoulders takes no magician for a somewhat undrunk result. I like the shrink hammers, though. Shrink hammers is good !

What do you have your MIG welder set to? I know it's low voltage because of how thin the sheet metal is so thin but I can't see the exact setting on my screen.
@clsamssms1214

Can. You use this on a core flux welder
@eastwoodco
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use flux core to weld on studs for dent pulling. However, MIG tends to be a little cooler (less warping) and cleaner (less spatter) which makes it a better process for automotive body work than FCAW.

If you was to use the miracle pull system with the rapid puller attachment, you could have that dent out in under a minute, this way takes far too long in a busy bodyshop

This product is meant for the DIY'er, obviously production body shops have dedicated machines for this.
@crabbyhayes1076

It also seems a dedicated system doesn't require a welding hood or a second shot. It seems if you want to sell this to a DIY guy, you should show the person how to achieve good results in less time - i.e 1 spot weld and no hood.
@DmOcRsI
4 жыл бұрын
I would think that with this system you'd be able to reuse the studs since you don't need that flat-head that a normal stud-welder requires; that in itself is a good feature. Also, you can make an adapter for those fancy flat-studs with the holes through them to pull several inline at once. Those special stud-welders are stupid expensive for the DIY guy!

When pulling dents you start on the outside perimeter of the dent and work your way to the center (the deepest point). The opposite way the collision occurred. Nice tool though. I realize this inst a body work tutorial.

This guy is a great welder but many people are here to learn how to do body work and he's spreading some misinformation. I'm a newbie but I still know that your supposed to pull the perimeter first. You fix the damage in the reverse order of how it happened so the middle of the dent is the last part you'd pull.

I truthfully don't see the point of this rig. Its easier and quicker for me to simply hold a stud with my left hand and get my tack with my mig gun in my right hand. The only reason I could see this thing being beneficial would be if the person welding was missing a limb.
