cheers mate. This Rank Math redirect opened up a whole new world of possibility. I can now essentially redesign the woo shop process (UX & UI). The dynamic stubbornness of woo's pages baffled me for a long time. having to adapt the current set up as opposed to having them look and feel the way I want. Brilliant - and introduced me to Rank Math too which is a nice bonus. Thanks for taking the time, really helped cure a massive brain ache.

Hey Jamie, Noob here. I see how you filtered products. I need to do this for content categories on different content category pages. For example, I have art, meditation, hypnosis, then I also have art and merch storefronts. I’m just trying to determine the best plug-in or method to sort and redirect different content categories to post to different pages. I will also be posting art videos to the art page, and podcast video/podcasts to the other subject pages. What is the best way to do this? I’m a little overwhelmed. If I’m wrong and there is a better way to do this, please let me know. It’s a lifestyle site with a range of content. Thanks 🌷

Hi, if you are using a block theme like Bricksy you could add filters like this kzitem.info/news/bejne/t2arvamOkYGbpWk But if you want completely unique category pages i.e different layout for each category page, then you'll need to build them as normal pages and use the re-direct method.

Gday Jamie - GREAT VIDEOS - CAN I ASK A QUESTION ON ANOTHER category type topic please?? I wonder if you have any advice on handling woo products which can reside in multiple categories? I have a need to display a nice curvy bookshelf (let's call it "Curved Shelf") under two categories - 1 - BOOKSHELVES and 2 - CURVED FURNITURE. This is the problem... "Curved Shelf" might sit in category BOOKSHELVES (primary) and 2 CURVED FURNITURE (that is easy in WOO). - Obviously one can find product "Curved Shelf via the category landing pages for both categories 1 and 2. Though here is the problem. If I arrive at the product via the list displayed on category page CURVED FURNITURE, when I select "Curved Shelf", the breadcrumbs in the store will then show the primary category path BOOKSHELVES > CURVED BOOKSHELF - such that if I want to navigate higher back to CURVED FURNTURE to view other curved items - I am lost ! I hope that makes sense - Is there a logical fix for this???Without having to clone and rename a product.

Hi Nick, you could go the template route. The Pro's for this approach would be that you would only need to create the template, I guess the downside would be that each page would then be the same (ish) again. Steps: 1. Create new page. 2. Design it. 3. Finally redirect the old one to the newly designed page.

not familiar with Rank Math, but as that is the catalyst for the redirect I've activated it. There does not appear to be redirections option. Can you clarify that step. Thank you very much.

Why would a redirect be needed? Why wouldn't you just put the New page that is made in the menu instead?
@jamiewp
4 жыл бұрын
Hi, because WooCommerce generates lots of links that it uses throughout your store that point back to the default WooCommerce category page. e.g in product meta, breadcrumbs etc. If you don't re-direct these your customers will see the normal WC category page. Makes sense?

@@jamiewp redirect won't affect SEO's page score, will it? instead of using Gutenberg, can I use other page builders elementor for example?
@jamiewp
4 жыл бұрын
@@kyle7092 nope Google will see it as a permanent 301 redirect so your SEO will be fine and yes you could use other page builders - but Gutenberg is faster loading now so better for ecommerce ;)

Not a really good solution. Redirections can dramaticaly affects performances and SEO. If you choose this way, you must set to'no index' the olds category pages.

Yup agree - these days i would simply edit the WooCommerce Category Template Page using a block theme - here's a video I recently made for WordPress.com that covers this kzitem.info/news/bejne/malt3Kx9i2Rhh6Asi=Y7CMHEbg-EJur9Xq

You should not use redirects like this. Imagine starting with 19 categories and ending up with 1000. Redirects should be a temporary fix until the search adjusts because servers have to load every redirect continually.

Great information. I think it's stupid and ridiculous that Woo Commerce and WordPress can't cater to our needs...the user. The bullshit we have to do to get around things and make things work is BS. Sure WordPress allows users to add HTML tags in the product description to add hyperlinks for example...but I shouldn't have to do it that way. Even Shopify has their shit in order and has full editing capabilities on the category page.
