"Stone Bridge"
OE no Sadamoto becomes a priest, changes his name to Jakusho Hoshi and goes to Tang Dynasty.
When he arrives at Mt. Qingliang, he sees a stone bridge in front of him there. If he crosses over the bridge, there will be the pure land of Monju Bosatsu.
At that time, a boy appears in front of Jakusho Hoshi.
The boy urges Hoshi to give up, because this stone bridge is not easy to cross even for practiced people.
The boy disappears with leaving words that if you wait here, I will let you see what the pure land is.
Ai Kyogen is performed in the interlude between the first half and second half. It introduces the characters in a play and the story development.
A musical accompaniment named "Ranjyo(Disorder)" is played when a lion appears. After the powerful performance of the prelude, "Tsuyu no te" is played by silent drums and small drums.
The powerful "De no Ranjyo" is played again, and lions which are the familiar of Monju Bosatsu appear.
Lions play with peonies, and play with each other, "This is actually vigor of the lion which is the king of
beast. Trees and plants also never yield to that vigor. Pray for the 'banzaisensyu'longevity and long peaceful time.
Lions finish dancing with sitting on the floor.
