That’s really good teaching. I play bass guitar. I play fretless bass exclusively and have done for years. The fretless bass really cuts through with that 1k and yes sometimes a bit more punch for good measure, though I do sometimes add a little bit of the lower mid frequency and yet not too much or it can sound a bit muddy. I sometimes add some low end 100Hz that works well with the bass I’m using. It has a piezo aero silk bridge pickup that can produce a very powerful low end when that particular frequency is boosted through it doesn’t need much, and yeah has some beautiful tones. Useful and interesting, for sure! It seems that pretty much any recorded instrument can benefit from some appropriate EQ adjustment, as with vocals but of course with different frequencies.

Maybe you should title this how I eq instead of how to eq. What works for your pop music may not work for metal or rap.
